Probably during every televised match you will hear the commentators use the terms 'front foot' and 'back foot'. Often commentators will refer to players having their 'tails up'. Now, I'm no biologist, but I'm fairly sure humans have left and right feet, not front and back ones, and I don't know where the tail is supposed to be. My dog has a tail, but the only time it goes up is when she's having a poo.

It's quite simple really:  Being on the front or back foot are cricketing terms (aggressive/defensive batting stances respectively) and having one's tail up I presume is a peacock analogy though I stand to be corrected on that one.

What annoys me is when a player goes over and every single commentator mentions that if it's not a foul then it's simulation.

Not in every case it isn't, there can be one player stronger than the other and them coming together makes one go down. No foul, no simulation. Really irritates me.

"That was liquid football"

It's a shame that campaign a few years ago to get Partridge commentating on Pro Evo never came to anything.
