Seems to me the  real losers are the expert pundits who soon won’t be able analyse the shit out of bad decisions. Maybe that’s why they’re seem to be making derogatory comments about it

Settle the fvck down.  The VAR is only just coming into being. It will get refined & clear up a bunch of garbage. What you are seeing now is not a finished product

I’m just worried that at the slightest hold/bit of contact/jostling players are going to go down like they’ve been shot like Salah did tonight and VAR will kick in.

Yes it it was a foul but how often are they given? It’s going to totally change the game.

this.

I'm confident it will get better. Whenever something new comes about it is not always perfect or the finished article.

The more it's used the quicker refs will be at sorting decisions out. The purpose of VAR is to eradicate mistakes or 'clear and obvious errors'. If you're the actual VAR all the way in that base in London, you wanna be absolutely sure you're making the right decision 1) for the on-field referee and the game and 2) not to be the first one to make a mistake. It's normal human pressure and feeling. But with time comes experience!

As Chris Foy said (if anyone saw), the average is 2mins 30 for it's usage already. There were a couple of decisions which took about 10 seconds to check. Why is nothing being said about that? He also said that FA are looking at how to get around the issue of communicating with fans while something is being referred. I agree that it's shit being in the ground, not being aware what's being checked. I suspect we'll see screens being implemented at all stadiums so that fans at least know what's being checked. in Australia, fans can see there's a VAR review and they get to see the replays that the VAR will check. A bit of clarity and transparency about it all I thnk will allay alot of people's apprehensions about VAR.

I can’t see them allowing any kind of replay of the incident to be showed in the ground, they already don’t show contentious periods of play for a reason.

We’re not rugby or tennis fans, all hell breaks loose the minute there’s what’s viewed as a bad decision. I can’t even imagine a 50/50 decision being shown at a crucial point in the game and the decision goes against the home team.

I see Pardew is saying his players got injured because VAR delayed the game - goodness me - these managers will find any excuse won't they!

I bet Klopp was really gutted the ref went and gave that penalty to Liverpool (which they missed of course) as no doubt had the original decision stood he would have just blamed the ref for not giving it.

One thing is the foul on Salah was given for pulling him back. So will we see fouls given if someone scores but had held there opponent down as van dijk did yesterday? (Albeit his effort was saved)

Salah's was the correct decision, Hopefully it will lead to players stop holding on to each other in the box. It's got crazy the amount of it that goes unchecked now.

It will take time to get right but I'd just follow the Rugby method. Give the Ref or 4th official a Mic and let the Fans here what's going on. Players should not be allowed surround the Ref either. The sideline Camera should be designated a no go area for players and Managers.

It was, but as the previous poster pointed out, will it work if the attacker fouls the defender and then scores. Could end up being a non contact sport altogether

You can say the Salah decision was correct.....maybe

But by the same token, were the referees incorrect not to award penalties to Iborra and Willian for blatant fouls? there is a clear inconsistency issue that is still in play here and it hasn't gone away.

Also, id be very surprised if referees start taking Craig Pawson's view of things. Because any potential grapple he didn't give in the box after that, especially from a corner, you can guarantee players would be HOUNDING him to look at the VAR screen.

I still think West Brom were on the receiving end of some harsh refereeing on Saturday. OK the penalty could have been given, but id have expected Craig Pawson to stick with his initial decision on that one really. The offside was marginal. If I was a law maker, that would be a goal. I wouldn't have an offside for a guy who has one foot and his head offside sorry I just think that's stupid.
