I've just watched the highlights on the OS and took the same conclusion. After all the negativity on here I was amazed and delighted to see our play after those first 20 mins, the style and the incisiveness (apart, unfortunately, for the finishing; on another day we would have had 6). We sliced through their defence on a number of occasions with slick and silky passing.

 

You can say what you like about Burnley sitting back, but we're talking here about one of the most effective and robust defences in the division.

Simpson was not brought by the club to play in a system that required him to go forward and give support to the attack. He is a very good defender who gives great cover to the Centre backs and all round cover to the defence.

  We know his limitations.....the fact that Puel continues to play and ask him to perform in this system makes him look poor but I also question the validity of Puels' insistence to play him in this new system.

Of course they will! They'd insist 7th was still on if we were 4pts behind wth one game remaining.

Of course, Chelsea are not going to allow Burnley to complete an embarrassing league double over them.

 

I just hope Chelsea (ahead of their semi-final) make 6 changes and put in as much effort as Spurs did against Brighton. At least Alonso has received a retrospective ban and will miss Thursday's game.

 

For  a team like Chelsea, It must be worse to play on a Thursday night at Turf Moor than a Saturday afternooon?
