Probably the worst time to start a positive thread but we all love our club and for me the Foxes Never Quit has been defining. Although not his biggest fan NP started the process with a hard working, committed side which has been developed through great recruitment to have a defining season two years ago which despite the negativity now will help the owners define the next 10-15 years for the club.

However, they have a massive summer ahead as the squad that has been largely successful over the past 5 to 7 years is breaking up or needs upgrading i.e. King, Wes, Simpson, Ulloa, Huth, Drinky have all moved on, be moving or need to have a different role. There are some very big characters amongst that lot and if you add Fuchs, Mahrez, Maguire, N'didi and Vardy who will either retire, be sold or be in demand we have a big big summer ahead.

The club needs a playing DNA and for me it starts with the manager and that will be a huge decision ahead which I believe the owners will make as I am not sure they will trust CP with such a big task. We need a manager who the players can relate to but also one which puts the City back in City as we lack the pace, passion and never say die attitude for me with someone with tactical knowledge to develop a couple of plans and also attract quality players...

Hopefully the owners act soon and maybe even now as the season is over and making sure our club is on the right footing for next season starts now......maybe I am alone but feel we have lost a bit of our DNA??

Yes we have lost purpose.

We are still in transitional period under Puel hence why I think he does need the summer and pre season to sort it out. This period involves getting the old guard out and clearing it with useful players which will help us to adapt to new “DNA”. It isn’t a crisis, it is far from horrific, look at Sunderland, all but relegated today and also look at teams like Sheffield Wednesday, teams who would kill to be in our position. Top half of the premier league and some promising players in Choudabary, Ndidi, Maguire etc. People really need to get it into perspective.

Couldn't agree more with you here.

We need stability, as well as an evolution.

I think Claude has tried to do the latter while not having much of the former; YES, we've been mostly dreadful for quite a while.

Yet despite that, we're still 8th.

But I think with time, patience and trust in the transfer market, he has a good DNA with which to move forward.

We can't afford (financially and otherwise) to keep chopping and changing the management when things get difficult.

So for me, it's crucial that we keep him and carry on building.

We are in a transitional phase with a few players who are square pegs in round holes, a few players who are not cut out for the style CP has been brought to the club to play.

Despite the meltdown by some, and it is frustrating we have blown 7th, let’s have some perspective. Before the miracle 2 seasons ago our highest Prem finish was 8th - and we are 8th currently.

Get rid of the deadwood (Morgan!), let Puel have a summer and see where we are at Christmas. Let’s not do a Southampton - the grass isn’t always greener.

I hate the fact that we become a club who constantly changes manager too however, I believe the owners appointed CP to save us - job done but I am not convinced that they will see the direction of travel they expect. They are hugely ambitious and whilst he has done a reasonable job I am not sure whether they will believe he can spend the £120m+ (After Mahrez sale) and take us to the next level.......

Point taken - still 8th. Like how Burnley 7th after that dire run they had (just goes to show how poor and inconsistent the PL is outside the top 6).

Time will tell if the board think Puel is to be trusted with a war chest... I hope so as I think the major issue is player related and not tactics.

Seriously, how much of you think we can become a top 6 team overnight? Since when being 8th is a reason enough to sack the manager?

Genuine questions.

Do you mean like win the league overnight......oh hang on we have done that!

You do not sack a manager for finishing 8th if that is the way above expectations or talent within the squad - the owners ambitions are more than 8th in a very poor league except for the Top 4 - we arguably with a bit of form could be 5th, 6th....

You maybe happy finishing 8th with rubbish form, poor decision making for team selections, asking players to do things they cannot do when better options exist but also not utilising some of the strengths we have...

For me its not 8th it is the fact he appears clueless

He can't be that clueless,he was the 8th best Manager in the league last season and looks like being the 8th/9th best this season.

I don't think you can judge him yet,at this moment in time they aren't his players and they are mostly on the beach, wait till he has bought in some of his own signings and see how we go next season.

Clueless maybe a tad harsh but do you believe we have the 8th best squad in the division? I do in fact I would argue that it is better than that - whilst I accept he does not have his players in I am not sure if I have seen enough to trust him with the biggest summer window in recent history.

It maybe me but I remember the Peter Taylor summer having watched us become a team lacking identity at the end of one season to then slump into relegation. Whilst I am not suggesting that CP is PT there are traits that he keeps picking weaker options in his new style i.e. Chilwell and Morgan when Fuchs/Dragovic should be playing and I would suggest that evolving is into a team that can keep possession he should also mix it with the key strength of pace and closing down - these are the areas that concern me .....our DNA could be improved rather than binned and completely started again!

Lol, we didn't win the league overnight. It was the result of a build up of quite a few seasons and favourable circumstances that makes this event a one-off likely meant to never be repeated again. Can't believe you brought that up.

Clueless? He's introduced a football based on possession, getting the core of the team used to it and favouring playing young players. Obviously there are misfirings, obviously we're throwing away games but he's building in the long term, a concept that seems to be alien to half of the people posting here.

He ain't clueless. But lot of people here sure are.

I thing the only "term" a few fans think of here is the term between two saturdays. Not much thought beyond that.
