Unfortunately, I'd now say Dragovic is bordering on unrealistic.

I know. Shame.

So it looks as though the plan might well be Mahrez out, and Roberts and Maddison in! What do people make of that?

Potentially, it's shrewd. Both players have the potential to be cracking players BUT potential don't win games. It' a risk.

Big risk. The way I see it (and I know stats aren’t everything) If you take out Mahrez and Okazaki’s combined goals and assists, something like 15 and 15, you have to replace those figures, spread across the new wide man and  the new no.10.

I’d be confident in Maddison improving on  Okazaki and some of the Mahrez deficit, but we’re probably going to need more from a ‘Roberts type player ‘with all his potential, in the Premier League, against stiffer opposition than he is used to.

I don' think it' all about ability either though. Vardy (or possibly Nacho) are key.

Maddison looks like the sort of player who Vardy would thrive from. Having saw a ot of Roberts, he is always going to create more than he scores..... this could result in us playing better as a team than we do with Mahrez and Okazaki.

Mahrez is great and he works well with Vardy but he holds on to the ball too much sometimes, Roberts seems to look to create faster and more often by bringing other players in (similarly, why I prefer Diabate over Gray) and Okazaki looks to drop too deep to help the CM a bit too often where Maddison may over better support to the number 9.

Again though, it's all ifs and buts......

I guess the lineup could be more like this, then?

                      Kasper

     Dragovic - Evans - Maguire

 Pereira            Ndidi         Chilwell

                   Silva - Iborra

                       Nacho

                        Vardy

With either Silva or Iborra moving up in attack behind Nacho & Vardy...

This away and then the below at home;

Kasper

Pereira - Evans - Maguire - Chilwell

N'Didi

F. Anderson or Ziyech - Silva - Gray

Nacho

Vardy

Sprinkle in exciting prospects like Barnes, Hamza, Maddison etc and we look in very good stead. Means we're only making another 3 signings as well which is more than realistic

People should stop posting formation with three at the back. We won't do it. Seriously.

shame as it suits Chilwell and probably Pereira too

I have no doubt about those two.

My main concern is the back three (signing Dragovic is highly unlikely) and the midfield which blows hot and cold.

Pereira-----Evans-------Maguire----Chilwell

-------------------Silva------N'didi-----------------

---Shaqiri---------Maddison--------Hazard---

Gray and Diabate impact subs and maybe even Grealish to compete for that no.10 spot with Maddison.

Would also like a top up and coming keeper to push Kasper for the No.1 and us to sign a top young defender.

Iheanacho to compete with Vardy for the no.9 shirt and also for us to sign a big no.9 lump to chuck on for a plan B.

Choudarry hopefully will improve and Iborra can cover in CM too, with perhaps one from Mendy or James as 4th/5th choice.

I don't trust our remaining wingers enough to be our creative force, I really don't, so I'd like to see us try something a bit different.

You went for the diamond? That's Puel's favourite formation.

Yeah, Maddison seems to love playing higher up, and with Iborra able to drop into the space between the CBs and the midfield line, I think it could work. I also really want Kelechi to start.

The MC's have a lot of work to do. Chillwell as well as Silva must step up. If they do, we could actually see it next season as main formation.

If not, 4-2-3-1 it is.

I agree. My main gripe with 4231 if we sign Maddison is that it excludes one of Maddison or Iheanacho and either Iborra or Silva, and to replace those players we currently have Albrighton, Gray and Diabate. Just doesn't feel good enough.

Apart from 16/17 (obviously!) the aims are the same each season - to improve, be more competitive, have a stronger & deeper squad, etc.

So next season we finish 6th or as close as we can to that, we get more points than last year, we do better than 2 cup quarter finals.

The way the window is shaping Puel is likely to start the season with the best squad in the club’s history- albeit lacking the best ever player.

He’s going to have to deliver from the off!

Love Fuchs but feel Chilwell does have the potential to be very very good, especially with him having the best underlying attacking stats of any defender in the league for his final 19 games.  Defensively yes I understand some people's reservations.  yes, he'll probably make some mistakes and has a lot to learn but I say we go with him as I can see him pushing on this season.
