Sunday 14th October 2018 Leicester Marathon and Half marathon

I have put my name down for the half Marathon anybody else doing it?

Yeah I think I will, tempted by the full marathon tbh.

We normally go away for half term so I need to see what we have planned before I commit.

Undecided yet, and I'll be leaving it late to make my mind up. Running the Robin Hood half 2 weeks prior so will have to see how that one goes.

It's my birthday weekend too so would be nice to run a 'home' race that weekend. I've got my eyes set on Leicester 2019 as my first marathon (26 miles just after turning 26) so would be nice to run some of the course beforehand.

If you do @Strokes good effort bud

I am kind of winding myself up slowly to do a full marathon so possibly might try one next year maybe?

Never ran one before and chickened out of the Edinburgh one last year, so I've signed up tonight. My sister text and said the brother-in-law was doing it so, which prompted me to.

Last few days before the half - how are we all feeling?

Think I'm just about recovered from the Robin Hood half now, so been getting in a few easy runs to keep things ticking over in between. Robin Hood was a hard slog with the big hills at the start, whereas looking at the elevation for this one it seems generally more flat (apart from that climb towards the end!) so if everything goes well I'd like to be getting a little closer to 1:50.

RH was a quarter mile too long as well, so fingers crossed Leicester is a bit more accurate lol

Training has not gone well last three weeks due to an ankle injury which once heal was followed by a viral infection that lasted a week. Got back running on Saturday, with 12k, which I managed in 1hr20. Didn't think that was bad having not ran for 3 weeks. Sunday is gonna be hard going but I'm gonna give it a go. As long as I finish, I'm not looking to challenge Mo Farah.

Yeah I drove down thurmastin bypass this morning about 9.45 and those conditions looked honking. Fair play to you all. I’ve done two Leicester marathons ; my first and last which was in 2012. Remember it like it was yesterday. Really enjoyed it but have suffered numerous serious knee injuries since and really never regained that kind of fitness. Wolf run in 3 weeks though
