Loads of festivals cancelled or not going ahead this year, Godiva in Coventry is one example.

I was only thinking the other day how much I like Leicester Academy in comparison to the crap views of overcrowded Rock City and Birmingham Academy.

Grassroots bands are struggling against tribute acts, and people are buying tickets for tribute acts because they can’t afford the original artist prices.

Such a shame that Leicester loses another venue.

O2 Academy is closing down

Reckon they'll honour gigs already announced? They literally announced a Gerry Cinnamon and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds tribute last night.

I booked an Arctic Monkeys tribute for the o2 a few weeks ago so hoping it still goes ahead.

I booked the Amy Winehouse one, doors close end of the year it seems, I’d say anything listed already will go ahead.

That new one from Kasabian is shite.

Havent made a good song for years, probably should have jacked it in as Kasabian once Tom left the band.

Yeah tend to agree. Did enjoy the SLP record.

It's amazing how many bands don't survive one person leaving.

I'd much rather see a local band I've never heard of playing their own stuff than a tribute band. Also, the cost of seeing a tribute band is pretty much what you would've paid to see the actual band 10 years ago.

Sadly, even moderately successful bands don't come to Leicester anymore, despite having a fantastic venue (De Montfort Hall (though that's likely DMH's decision)).

The last big name to play in Leicester was probably Richard Ashcroft at DMH in 2019. Can't think of anyone since then to be honest, like has been said they're more likely to go Nottingham or Birmingham. The one major side of the stadium expansion not going ahead was not having an arena built for having music artists here, I'm fairly sure that was included in the plans.

Actually gutted we'll no music venues left in Leicester now. Suppose I best get ready to travel more then. I mean I was having to travel majority of times for gigs anyway but now it'll be all the time. Liked being able to go to the odd gig in Leicester saved on travel etc.
