This pisses me off royally. If you're a snowflake who can't deal with opinions, get in the bin.

People need to realise that fans are unhappy with the decision to pick these players because they aren't capable of performing the job anymore, not out of a lack of respect for their role in creating history. By saying Wes Morgan shouldn't be in the team any more, it's stating what we clearly believe to be the case based on performance on the pitch, not an assassination of his character.

They will all be remembered for all of our lifetimes very fondly, as will Ranieri, but a changing of the guard is essential, we can all see that.

But im sure he's not questioning anyone who says "Morgan shouldn't be in the team any more", he's directing it at those who abuse the players.

Amartey has done well at right-back for us in the past. Just because he's made one mistake in the opening minute of the opening match doesn't suddenly turn him into a "liability".

Fickle much?

Seems to me people are keen on slating players for the sake of it even if the team performs well on the whole, so they can have something to moan about regardless.

Meanwhile, "legends" become untouchable, excempt from criticism, just because some fans would like others to believe so.

Remember last year at home to United? We were a goal down, so Puel throws him on for Simpson and he gets sent off in 10 minutes. He's not even a jack of all trades, he's hardly any good anywhere. You're not telling me that having Amartey anywhere on the pitch fills you with confidence? He's young, so I don't want to write him off completely.

Have a moan at some of the old guard by all means, but it's the way it's done. The stick Morgan gets is disgraceful. Personally, I don't see there being any reason for Fuchs being here anymore, so they're not exempt from criticism.

Simpson was a liability in that game himself, constantly exposed (not the least thanks to a certain right winger not tracking back).

Manchester United's second goal in said game was down to a foul by Maguire if memory serves correctly.

Plus, the game was refereed by none other than Jon Moss... Amartey gets his first yellow for a slight pull on the shirt, whilst Pogba walked away scot-free for similar offenses.

And it was Amartey's first game after sitting out the majority of the first half of the season (after losing 4-3 to Arsenal on the opening day).

As the season progressed, and the more he played, he grew into it and performed much better.

Again, it was his first (full) season playing as right-back.

But of course, it's easy to blame the player (Amartey) in all of this, as long as it fits your narrative.

Tbh most of the abuse on here is mainly aimed at 3 or 4 players exclusively.  Chilwell, Gray, Amartey and King. The latter 2 are not good enough whilst the former 2 are food but make naive errors.

King doesn't even play anymore so debating about him is pointless.

Amartey does a decent job sometimes but has brain fart moments too often for my liking. He's clearly a squad player, though certain posters are determined to drive him out of the club with their sheer obsession over him.

Chilwell is an academy product yet is treated with disdain because he dares to perform like an inexperienced 21 year old left back. Can't wait til Hamza clocks up 30 City appearances so he can get the wrath of the fanbase.

Gray blows hot and cold, just like Iheanacho, Slimani, Iborra & Okazaki yet he gets more abuse than those 4 combined. How dare he not smile 24/7 the ungrateful cvnt!!!!

lol I see you're fighting his corner in the Amartey transfer thread too. It's not me with the narrative mate.

I remember him playing well at Chelsea if it makes you feel better.

Context is everything.

I'm just unnerved by this black-and-white mentality by some. Players are either shit or great, little to nothing in between.

Poor Danneh is the scapegoat No.1 right now - others to follow, I'm sure of that.

At least you're not writing him off completely. Kudos to that.

It doesn't seem to matter how often you say something, people will choose not to understand it.

Nobody, literally nobody, who is defending the older players has said they are exempt from criticism.  As the title of this thread says, it is about respect.  To read the language used by some posters (not you) aimed at some players that achieved things beyond our wildest dreams can be excessive and unnecessarily unpleasant.

You want to criticise them though - go ahead.

Just about every supporter and follower over the age of, say, 42....that's quite a lot, 60 odd years (very odd) in my case ;)

That’s an entirely reasonable point!!!  I’m 45 BTW!!!  :D

Ps…. I get the impression there a bunch of whipper snappers on here, judging by some of the back and forth!
