We can beat any team that come out and attack, even Chelsea or Man City, but we're powerless against teams that sit deep, even League 2 sides like Newport County. We look boring against these teams but we really just lack talent. The only ways to fix this are (1) spend £500M in the transfer market or (2) bring in a bunch of youngsters and develop them over 3-4 seasons. Man City famously took option 1. Puel is taking option 2. This is why I don't favor sacking him. Hiring another manager isn't going to make this go faster. What evidence so far makes you think Puel will find a way to break down packed in defences? Just wondering ?, maybe he will get it right but so might another manager.

What do we have to lose by giving him time to try? I'm finally coming to accept however that English fans just hate Puel. He's French and boring and comes off as snobby and aloof in press conferences. The results don't matter: both Southampton and Leicester fans hate him just because he's himself. It seems crazy to sack a good manager because people don't like the look of him but maybe that's where we are.
fleckneymike Posted 13 January 2019 Posted 13 January 2019 Boring football isn’t in itself boring. Lord knows we’ve had some very limited sides who were capable of precious little else but it was occasionally engaging as limited players tested themselves against superior opponents. The problem with this current set up is that we are unnecessarily boring. We’re playing this way out of choice not necessity. Puel May build young sides but it appears to me we’re in the process of building a very dull side. We’ve had nearly a season and a half to work out how to attack and break down defensive sides but haven’t. I suspect this is because we have little desire to do so.

I see where you're coming from and I think that's has something to do with it, his inability to connect with the fans doesn't exactly do him favours. But IMO he's not done much to suggest he's anything but average with limitations to his management game. Would I sack him now? probably not, unless the owners have been stalking someone for a while now there is no point in any rash decisions. I'd probably scope someone out for the summer and give Puel a little longer to see if he can turn it round.

I have been a Puel-in-er because I have been enjoying the stability of being a mid-table PL team after the roller coaster of swinging between the title and relegation under Pearson, Ranieri, and Shakespeare. On the other hand, I don't want the club to just sit in 10th forever and make money while we all go to sleep. My worry is that we get a new manager who's exciting and connects with the fans and we end up in the Championship. Don't you worry about this?
Otis Posted 13 January 2019 Posted 13 January 2019 Is Boring Football the worst kind of Football? No, that'll be women's football.

See the similarities here .Puel is slowly destroying the "Leicester way" He is building a relegation culture like Taylor.- see other thread ref home form. Taylor took nearly two years to completley ruin us.Puel will probably take us down next year and bore us to submission.

Taylor took on a stable side in its prime, brought in terrible players and was little more than a crap PE teacher. Puel took over a side which was in decline had almost been relegated the previous season and had started very poorly. They had generally been playing awful football as well. We're currently not amazing but no where near as bad as the year and a bit prior to him arriving!
Ted Maul Posted 13 January 2019 Posted 13 January 2019 Absolutely. I long for the days when our games are as bonkers as they were in 2003/04- all those late comebacks sure were exciting!
cropstonfox Posted 13 January 2019 Posted 13 January 2019 Taylor took key players out the club too early due to his own ego.(cottee walsh were treated terribly )Puel has not treated ibborra Silva Fuchs King Simpson ulloa respectfully. The side Puel took over were possibly in decline but far from relegation fodder hence Shakeys strong finish. We had just got through an horrendous start fixture wise and shakey was probably not the longterm answer but was not given as much rope as Puel.In my humble opinion we are in a worse state to when he took over.Puel has done nothing different or better than any other run of the mill manager would have done.He had however killed off the fans enthusiasm and the impetus the team used to have.He has baffled the current group of players and not played to their strengths. Attendances will start to drop soon I cant give my ticket away when im not able to attend.Just get rid now . 1 hour ago, Gubbins said: I don't see any similarities.
