Gubbins Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 It's been posted many times by many posters over the past year about how boring our football is and how they no longer want to go because of it. Often with the addition of saying they've never felt like that before in X years of support. Now regardless of your feelings on Puel I think nearly all of us agree we've seen far worse city sides play a lot worse than we are currently. Is it just hyperbole or was it actually more exciting watching some of our poorer sides struggle in the past? If you are one of the people I've mentioned why didn't you want to stop going when we were being turned over the majority of the time as opposed to sporadically now?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 If anyone thinks our current standard of football is the worst they've ever seen, they clearly haven't been watching us for many seasons.

ScouseFox Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 yeah, rather have any form of excitement than this bollocks.
Corky Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 In the first half we couldn't even manage boring football as we completed about five passes in a row once.
davieG Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 The worst football is losing football and lot did stop going when it was bad. People probably don’t want to give up their STs as they’re hard to come by and I guess they are hopeful of better times. PS a family of 3 that sit near me didn’t come today.
hejammy Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 A terrible thread....what do you expect people to say? Nooo exciting football is the worst kind?

They went to Southampton...nicer weather..
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 History will view this period quite favourably I think

I don’t think people have forgot but I think over 2 and a half years of consistently bad football has finally come to a head. The worst thing is that this group of players show glimpses of what they are capable of every so often. Especially when the brakes are taken off. Its what makes everything so much more frustrating because we know these players are capable with more intensity than they are currently allowed.

None of us are consistent, look at West ham, beat Arsenal yet will lose stupid games.

But overall our football hasnt been terrible compared to say Levein, Holloway and death throe Shakespeare and Ranieri. Yet you've got people saying there bored of coming and never felt like that before which suggest they thought awful losing football was/is more appealing?

I remember that game, him and Bori both stormed down the other wings and we're unstoppable! Then that all ended! Actually think I have their autographs upstairs somewhere!
Collymore Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 For me it is the lack of invention in the final third. We just aimlessly hit the ball at random into the box and the defence just thank us and ask us "to come again" Chilwell is awesome, as he can quickly move from one end of the pitch to the other and he has improved defensively but he looks like a boy lost at sea when he has to "think" in attack. Maddison's set piece taking is becoming more and more suspect every time I see him. I'm not sure he's all cracked up from dead ball situations, you could set your watch via the atomic clock with his corners, as do the opposition defence. I think the biggest head scratch for me is the collective lack of ideas, no one wants to sort it and take control on the pitch. Why do we continually play to everyone's weaknesses? Hitting high balls to the back post with tiny players in the box! **** me, we're rotten to the core at the moment at home.

People are saying they are fed up of this boring football as compared to recent history it is boring. Obviously the quality of football we played in the championship/league 1 was not as good as the football we play now, however it is boring and negetive compared to say the last 5 years.
Monsell1976 Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 It’s boring as it’s sideways and backwards, and played with no intensity or direction, so it is the worst kind of football, nobody pays good money to be bored. With better players, this style could be successful and entertaining, but the problem is to many fans get sentimental about players. If puel stays, vardy, albrighton and a lot of the old players have to go, they are either not embracing it, cannot adapt to it, or are not technically good enough, not nice to hear but it’s not nice to watch either. If puel stays he needs to get his style of player in, and start being more expansive with it, 3 defensive mids against the big boys I get, but against teams struggling, and we are at home is just pathetic, and he deserves the stick, as the same thing is happening over and over, but he doesn’t adapt, but keeps suffocating our attack so we don’t concede, which we do anyway, because of the poor standard in our squad
lcfc sheff Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 Feck me sideways, when do teams play attractive football consistently outside the top 6? I think people overexaggerate as we’re now an established prem team, who are stuck in the middle; no fear of relegation to make things interesting nor are we guaranteed Europe. I can understand frustration; but the reality is the football style is not gonna change much unless we invest in the big players; which as we are all aware isn’t how we do things nowadays. I personally think it’s the quality of players who cost us at the moment; which isn’t something easily changed contrary to belief.
Mint23 Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 Losing football isn’t the worst kind, boring football is. We all know that we won’t win the league again as can’t match the big 6 financially so it no longer becomes a results business. If you win the league no one cares how you do it, if you’re relegation favourites but survive again no one cares how you do it but we’re in the middle ground, can’t win it and won’t go down so what we HAVE to be is entertaining otherwise what are people paying their money for?
lcfc sheff Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 To continue - the technical ability of the players isn’t good enough. Vardy, the midfield aren’t good enough on the ball. Our best player on the ball is our centre back!
StriderHiryu Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 Why post this today though when the match was anything but boring!? The game had a sending off, a penalty, we had 23 shots, 6 on goal and 10 corners. We threw everything we had at Southampton who camped in their own half to get the three points, and credit to them for digging in. The result was crap, the individual performances poor, but boring?! We were going hell for leather until the end of the game. To answer your question, yes boring football is the worst kind. Like the sort of shit we had to endure at the beginning of last season under Shakespeare against West Brom, Huddersfield and Bournemouth. Or the shit that we endured after winning the title when every team sat back to counter our counter attack and we kept hoofing the ball up aimlessly to Vardy for 90 minutes. Or any one of the seasons when we were on the decline after entering the doldrums of the lower reaches of the Championship. At least under our current management we are trying to pass the ball around. We might be crap at it, but we at least we are trying to move in the right direction.

It’s not the worst obviously, however we’ve all seen worse because we had worse players... a lot worse... this group and manager should be doing more
