WigstonWanderer Posted 8 February 2019 Posted 8 February 2019 Deep Purples Child in Time, Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath, Gary Moore Parisienne Walkways. Obviously loads more, many mentioned above and probably loads I cant remember.
murphy Posted 8 February 2019 Posted 8 February 2019 What about that solo on Abbey Road, in between 'Carry That Weight' seguing into 'The End'. Lennon, McCartney and Harrison take it in turns. Played live I believe. Probably my fave of all time and you can really see the difference styles of each. Other mentions, Jimi Hendrix 'All Along The Watch Tower' and 'Axis Bold as Love'. Also, Kurt Cobain's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Such a simple solo I can even play it myself. Just a few notes on one string but played with venom and spite. Love it!
Rob1742 Posted 14 February 2019 Posted 14 February 2019 My favourite of all time is Ride On by AC/DC, that solo is just amazing, love every note. Just fits the song in every way as if it is meant to be. Interesting if you dig the live version out, it’s totally different and nowhere near as good. As my guitar tutor told me, sometimes the guitarist will do a solo in the studio and it’s just for the moment and won’t be replicated again the same way. Its well worth a listen.
oakman Posted 21 February 2019 Posted 21 February 2019 Can't believe I forgot this masterpiece, guitar solo's don't come much better.
joachim1965 Posted 22 February 2019 Posted 22 February 2019 Richie Sambora Dry County solo at Wembley 1995. Got to be up there.
reynard Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 Pretty much anything by Joe Bonamassa is worth checking out. However, dig out anything by either Ainsley Lister of Geoff Achison, both fantastic electric blues guitarists and maybe less well known than thye deserve to be. Greatest guitar solo, if you can call it that, is Ocean by John Butler. 12 minutes of playing a guitar in ways I didn't know possible. He's brillian live if you get the chance. Hope this link works
