City’s longest serving player made the transfer deadline day switch across the East Midlands in a search for regular first team football. The Wales international has made just one appearance for the Foxes this season, as a 72nd-minute substitute in the FA Cup defeat by Newport County, and was not included in the club's Premier League squad. Lampard has expressed his delight at having signed King, and was keen to thank City for their co-operation in ensuring the man who has won the top three divisions at Leicester was able to move to Pride Park. He said: "It was a difficult one for us because it was a deal that would have been difficult for us to do. "Leicester helped us, really, in that way, so we managed to get him in and he's a great addition for us in terms of numbers in midfield." Leicester are believed to be paying a significant portion of King's wages during his loan stay. On what King will add to Derby's squad, Lampard said: "He will bring quality. "He's a good footballer, with good energy, good experience - he won the Premier League, won the Championship and played in a good team for a long time. "He was fundamental to them (Leicester City) over the years, in the rise of Leicester and what they did, and I know he's a good lad." https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/frank-lampard-thanks-leicester-city-2501385 Dont look like its the saving we thought it was then. Looks like he's going to have to take a huge hit in the summer if he wants to play that is. It's no wonder we are stuck with players like slim, Silva. No one can afford them. Are we just paying way over the odds in wages or are we having to do it to get players in.

Can’t work out wether you are agreeing or disagreeing with my post, yes his massive contract will run out, but he’s basically sat around on his contract, more than ever since puel appeared, took a half season loan last season and again this season, and even on loan will still receive full pay, no matter who pays it. King has been loyal as in he’s prepared to stay, but let’s not be fooled, no player wants to not play as much king, so yes he’s a long servant of the club, but a lot of that has been brought with very lucrative contracts, that in my believe nobody in their right mind would give to a very average squad player, (the amount of money, rather than the contract)and to be fair it was probably more of a disgrace giving James a new one, considering his injuries before and after signing it. I don’t blame king, he needs the millions in the bank for when he retires, but if it bothered him not playing, he would have got his agent to get him a move after being told he didn’t make the premier league squad. Neither agreeing or disagreeing really. I thought your previous post meant he had years left. I was pointing out its only months.

Jaspa Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Can't ever remember him picking up an injury that serious before. Looked innocuous enough. Right in thinking he has another year on his contract?

Yeah runs out in 2020, I imagine depending on how bad this injury is, if he is back in time for the summer he will be sent back out on loan or sold

davieG Posted 28 April 2019 Posted 28 April 2019 Could Andy King play again for Derby County? Frank Lampard gives injury update The 30-year-old midfielder's season looked to be over in February... BySteve NicholsonFootball Editor/Chief Football Writer 10:09, 28 APR 2019 Andy King is back training with Derby County and the Welsh international could be available for the play offs should the Rams reach them. The 30-year-old midfielder's season looked to be over when he suffered a freak ankle injury during Derby's 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in February. King, on loan from Leicester City, suffered "severe" ligament damage when Forest goalkeeper landed on his foot. It was later confirmed that the player would be out for the rest of the campaign. King tweeted at the time: "Injuries are part of football and it’s how you bounce back that matters. Thanks to Derby County for making me feel so welcome in my short time and I wish you good luck for the rest of the season. Now it’s about getting fit and coming back stronger." King is now in the latter stages of his recovery. "He is training with us, again," Lampard told DerbyshireLive. "He has come back, and he is great to have in the dressing room because of his personality and experience. Lampard's verdict "He is our player until the end of the season, so we will have to see how he progresses. "He is in latter stage of his injury, but the latter stage is the important bit to get match fitness. "With the injuries to (midfielders) Craig Bryson and Duane Holmes at the minute, hopefully they won't be out that long, but at the same time having Kingy back is a no-brainer." King joined the Rams on deadline day after making just one appearance as a substitute for Leicester this season. He played four times for the Rams, with two starts and two substitute appearances. Derby currently occupy the final play-off place and they have two league games left to play - away at Swansea City on Wednesday and at home to West Bromwich Albion a week today. Four points from the two matches would guarantee the Rams a place in the play offs although three points might be enough because of their superior goal difference over Middlesbrough, who are seventh. Middlesbrough have the same number of points, 70, but they have just one game left. https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/could-andy-king-play-again-2807691
