Andy King to Derby on loan

He'll do a job for Derby. Good move for everyone. We will save some cash.

Derby and Forest the destination for players not good enough for us.

Nothing but respect for him and he's the definition of club legend, but he's got absolutely no business being anywhere near a top half premier league team. Hope he gets a testimonial in the summer

If he had buried his shot against Newport I would have bought this shirt.

And would have probably a unique, if now meaningless item

Smash it in the Championship Kingy.  Then in life.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on there. I hope that it goes well for him. He's got petrol left in the tank, but not enough to propel him through a PL campaign.

Why not? Mendy has-been terrible for us and shipped off under previous managers. I feel King has more to offer, especially in a attacking sense.

I never said I was his pal, just that I know him well. I.e I work with someone from his family.

I think you are a bit clouded due to you knowing someone in his family.

The truth is, he has been a bit part player since league one, and reality is Pearson, Claudio, Shakespeare and puel preferred better midfielders over him.

Without the risk of being called a name, to use mendy’s loan away as justification in your argument is a tad unfair, he had a serious injury, and struggled for form and fitnesses, and has returned better for it, I’m not a massive fan, but is a far better player than king, hence king didn’t get in the squad.

King has done a job here as a squad player for years, but let’s not pretend, nobody else would have paid him I believe around £50 grand a week, and I’m guessing that’s the reason he’s not left permanently, as he has a massive contract he might as well see out

But we don’t play that system .......

i think he offered as much as Iborra and was unfortunate about that signing which screwed his last 18 months here

Good move for him and should do well in the Championship and won't have to move that far as he will still be in the East Midlands. good look Andy.

Whether you rate him or not, the bloke is a model professional and any lower Premier League club or Championship club are lucky to have him.

He's been with us through some of the best and worst times as a club, and contributed massively - especially in getting us back in the prem.

Good luck to him - i just hope he isn't such a success for Derby that they get promoted!

Still think he has more to offer than Mendy but hey that's an unpopular opinion. Annoyed it's Derby, but I suppose it means he doesn't have to move his family etc.

Great guy, I know him well, he is pretty gutted to have not been given the opportunity to prove himself here over the last few years, and is actually rather frustrated at the club, understandably.

Always given his all and has done a good job whenever he has been called upon and despite not playing has been fit and ready to step in on all occasions.

Good luck Andy. Nuge will be pleased to have his wingman back.

lol he was behind James in the squad never mind Mendy.

They are probably not poles apart and never really got a fair run in the side while in the Prem but there clearly must be a reason for that, if he was good enough then the previous managers would have had him playing you can't blame the club.

A bit-part player since League One? He played all but three games in the next two seasons, 42 in 2012/13, 30 in the Championship winning season, 29 in 2015/16, 32 in 2016/17 including four in the Champions League.

Whether he was a great player is up for debate but he was certainly involved heavily until fairly recently.

Some people don't realise it's a squad game mate. I'm tired of having to make the point you just did.

Good luck Kingy.

Love the guy for everything he's done for us. Derby's a good move for him, hope he does well there etc etc.

Having been too young to appreciate the MON era and growing up watching a lot of shit, Kingy will always be one of my all time favorites. Legend in my eyes

It doesn't really matter where he ends up, he's just not that bad or that old to not being able to play football on a professional level anymore. I'm glad for him that he's been given this opportunity and I do hope he takes his chance, even if it's Derby County. :D

At age 30, his experience and personality on and off the pitch will come in handy for the Rams. He's a great and decent person, never caused a ruckus, always remained and remains professional throughout.

I also think that the club could've and should've handled this situation better and earlier, and I'm disappointed he wasn't given more of a chance under Claude Puel.

All the best at the other end of the M1, Andy!
