La-li-lu-le-lo Posted 19 March 2019 Posted 19 March 2019 He’s earned this contract in my opinion.... yes he’s aging, and I don’t think for one second Brendan has signed him up to start every game, but he will want him in the changing room and amongst the lads. I’d much rather Wes come on if needed than Lord Farquaard. He’s a legend, and I think deserves to retire with the club.

You are correct though you SHOULD do what is right for the club, if Wes wasn't with us would we even consider signing him for a year. Not on your nelly. That should tell you everything you need to know. We have the experience of Evans at CB and we have Maguire. If we really need the experience of Wes too then let's sign him as a player-coach, if he's going to get premier league game time next season then we have problems and won't be competing for Europe that Rodgers and Top talk about. If he's not being considered a starter for next season then let's give Soyuncu the next 3 or 4 games to see if he's where we want to go next year. The problem with training is that the team doesn't play like in a match, someone like Wes won't be in a panic situation in training like he is during a prem game. And of course in training he isn't up against a big prem striker. it's either Vardy - who is way too fast for him or one of the inexperienced lads who will be learning from him but he won't be learning from them. It's another reason that not having a Slimani or Ulloa on the training ground is a big minus for the city and why we get exposed so often at corners in the prem. I agree, very rare I disagree with @Babylon..but I would see it as welcoming now to see and give Soyuncu gametime,in this season s run in... He hasn't played poorly in his appearances,so he isn't a forlorn hope...!!
Blue ROI Posted 19 March 2019 Posted 19 March 2019 Maguire's sending off couldn't have come at a better time! He was brilliant on Saturday but it ain't been pretty when teams like Bournemouth exploit him. Evans has replaced him really and we've looked a bit better with him and Maguire. Used sparingly Morgan's big game experience has its charms but his days as a first team mainstay are over. More like a Fuchs style backup option.

YOU think Wes is good enough for our team in the prem challenging for europe next year. I don't. And before you go making FALSE FACTS from opinions I'll just correct your "FACT". I don't want Wes starting for us next season, my opinion is that he isn't and won't be good enough and that we should easily get someone better. I want to see Rodgers try out our other options in the real games that exist this season where there is no pressure of relegation. So please stop telling me what I think and what I want because clearly you don't know due to a failure to understand what I write. In the team for 38 games - no. In the squad as a back up option as 3rd/4th choice playing due to suspensions and injuries - yes. We know Evans and Maguire are ahead of him in the pecking order. BR has spoken about Benkovic being ready for the PL so I assume he'll be competing too. Soyuncu - I imagine BR needs more time with him to decide.

Rodgers has openly said he won’t be playing as regular as he has done. A big part of the contract is for his experience and presence in and around the club. A great back up for sure, fit as a fiddle. Highly likely that Soyuncu will be going out on loan next season.

I saw him only a few times on German Sky last season and he looked fine. Just needs to be given some games.

So that'll be at least 2 years wasted. Again I have no problem with Wes being with the squad as a coach/mentor type but I don't want to hear the excuse of too much salary being paid by the club as the justification for not getting the required players as it has been this year. We should have had an AM and a striker for the beginning of this season but we couldn't because of the excessive wage bill that our management team has happily escalated without need.
