DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 I reckon Wes would do very well as a coach, in the near future.

He is a major part of the dressing room but Benkovic and Soyuncu need opportunities next season if we rate them. Would love to have seen the reaction if this happened a few weeks ago. Not sure it would be as positive. The squad is bereft of experience outside of Kaspar and Vardy. I’m not sure there’s much value in shipping out one of the few remaining experienced players.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 To be expected, but the club captaincy role needs a lot of thought for next season.

Forgive me for being a bit facetious.... But I DO hope Wes blocks Soyuncu from making the team. Much as I'd like to be wrong, I think he's a disaster. And I suspect both his managers so far think the same. But, this is a positive thread to celebrate Wes. I'm made up for the guy. A colossus and wonderful.LCFC servant

You could reverse the valuations and one would still be a bargain and the other overpriced for what they've offered.
smr Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 I didn't think we'd get a bigger captain than Walshy, but for me Morgan is the best captain we've ever had.

Keeping legends around after they retire, be it as a manager, coach or in the youth set up is a step in the right direction. Ole, Zidane, Carrick, Bergkamp and Van Der Sar at Ajax, Zanetti at Inter, Nedved at Juve. Even Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.. All of them have performed well in their roles and have the clubs best interests at heart.. Would love to see Huth and Wasilewski back at the club, even if it’s just in the youth set up. Kasper/Vardy when they retire too... Wes Morgan, a true Leicester legend. I’d be shocked if Wes and Kasper don’t join our coaching team in the future. I could even see them as managers / assistants here one day.
urban.spaceman Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Might do a poll for everyone’s favourite Wes moment.

KrefelderFox666 Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Superb player for us over 7 years. Yes he is getting on a bit, and PL has caught up but he can still do a job as Saturday showed. Hopefully he'll be more off an off the pitch captain and influence and help bed newer, younger players in while getting a few games here and there. Created lots of great moments at this club. I remember bumping into him at Leamington pre-season 2014 I think. Top man.
coolhandfox Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 We are going to losing a lot of experience in the summer Fuchs, Simpson, Okizaki. We have a very young squad and need some old heads in the camp, so good business.
Edingleyfox Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 I think we do need Wes for his experience and he seems to do well alongside Evans. We are not sure If Benkovic or Soyuncu will make the grade or whether another bid for Maguire will come in. Sensible and well deserved.
mucfox Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Great news. I'm very happy for our legend Captain Morgan. Brendan Rodgers knows who he can rely on and we need Wes so we can play for places 5 to 6 next season.

According to my calculations that’s a goal every 3.6 minutes. A hat-trick every 10. 25 goals a match! One of the best ever footballers in the world. Shocking we didn't get him to sign a 5 years more

ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Mixed feelings about this. He has been great for the club and certainly a legend after being captain for the league title. History shouldn't be anything to do with this though and hopefully it wasn't. If he is good enough to play then fine but if not then he needs to accept that his role will be different. If the idea is to use him to help develop some of our own other defenders and to help him get into coaching then I would be very happy about this.

Vardinio'sCat Posted 19 March 2019 Posted 19 March 2019 Big Wes is the new Big Was, and I'm happy he is prepared to stay and keep the young lads honest. I don't think he was expecting to play much this season, but you never quite know how these things will turn out. I guess that the Maguire situation will have a bearing on how much of Wes we will see, but his string of confident performances alongside Evans gives me hope that he could still do a job, if we had injury problems. Got a round of applause from the lads after the game apparently.
Collymore Posted 19 March 2019 Posted 19 March 2019 Never known a person who swings so wildly in and out of form. Just when he looks finished, he turns back into a world class beast.

Our wins against Chelsea and Man City are good examples of Wes at his best. However in a high line he is suspect, as are all our CB’s tbf apart from Evans maybe due to his reading of the game.

A colossus and wonderful.LCFC servant Why do you think he's a disaster? I don't think we've seen enough of him to comment either way but I thought he's done okay in the games he has played - even at Fulham away when he made a mistake which lead to the goal, he looked decent aside from that. He also seems more willing and comfortable to play the ball out from the back which is what we would need from our CBs moving forwards. I am delighted for Morgan to stay, provided he is happy to take a back seat and step in when needed. Our younger CBs will definitely need bedding in but it would be harsh to discount them for coming into the team and making isolated mistakes, especially when they rarely play. Evans, Maguire and Morgan have all been pretty sloppy all season and surely both Evans and Morgan are on their way out. I would like to see us prepare for the future in that respect, whilst retaining some experience just for the stability.
