Saw that advertised a few weeks ago, gutted as I’m already busy that weekend. They’ve apparently been doing it elsewhere since 2017 though so hopefully if this one’s a success they’ll come back. Supposed to be really good.

I remembering downloading Death Stranding and playing about 45 minutes. Quite possibly the most mental 45 minutes of a game I have ever experienced. Where I gave it a go,  Realised the story is crazy, then realised the gameplay is boring as hell before giving up on playing some weird courier.

 

Maybe I should give it another go. As I've heard plenty of good things about it.

 

Currently I am playing Euyiden Chronicles Hundred Heroes. I platinumed the previous game a couple of years ago which I really enjoyed so I was looking forward to giving the next installment a go. Loving it so far. I love games that involve building up a town. Collecting resources and recruiting.

 

The turn based fighting is brilliant. Not easy and takes some real strategy with item management

45 minutes is about the duration of the opening cutscene...

 

For reasons known only to my disturbed mind and god I've actually completed Death Stranding twice.  First on release and secondly when they released the directors cut.  If there was one thing the game didn't need, it was making longer.

 

Having said that, I have a strange affection for the game.  I actually really liked the slowness of it all.  Seemed to me to be something of a throwback to where fast travel just wasn't a thing.  It's worth pointing out that once you get transportation, there's a lot less plodding so worth persevering.  The story is also heavily back ended which is where most of the interesting things kick in.

 

Give it another go, but don't blame me when 20 hours in you start to look at yourself in the mirror and wonder wtf you're doing with your life.

My thing with death stranding was I just couldn’t get my head around the menus etc, I played a few hours and was just never exactly sure what I was doing when I was setting a mission up, did my head in so gave up.

I think I am hooked now haha

 

The only thing that I think will annoy me is that I want to pick up EVERYTHING

If you can carry it comfortably enough and the delivery isn't going to send you miles out of your way then you might as well. One thing you should always try to pick up is chiral crystals (if you can't collect them yet you'll be able to do an order that changes that very soon) because they're weightless and you will probably want an awful lot of them before too long.

Just got to the point last night where I can start picking up chiral crystals, and I am already picking them up whenever I see them now haha

75 hours for me to beat and platinum Ghost of Yotei

 

I had managed to get all the collectables etc. so that the last trophy I would get would be for finishing the story

 

I think I prefer the story of Tsushima, however I prefer the combat and the world in Yotei so it makes it pretty close between the two for me

 

Hopefully they bring out some DLC for it in the near future

 

Sucker Punch have smashed it again, very hard for me to decide between Yotei and Death Stranding 1 for my favourite game I have played this year so far

Cyberpunk and the Phantom Liberty DLC was probably my favourite game I played this year, although Death Stranding isn't far behind

 

Sometime over the Christmas break is when I will probably start playing my next "big game", and that will either be Death Stranding 2 or Clair Obscur, not sure which one yet

Im about 10 hours in on Clair Obscur and loving it so far. Just wish there was more hours in the day as its so hard to put down. A sign of a great game IMO.

I have Clair Obscur to start, picked it up cheap on black friday alongside Astro Bot. 

 

Ended up downloading Still Wakes the Deep after my SH2 Remake run and if you've not done that, I highly recommend it.  It will take roughly 5 hours and I had it done in the space of a day.  Couldn't put it down until I finished it, great game.

Been out for a couple of years and finally got around to the God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC

 

Personally not much of a fan of Roguelike games so just did the one play through, it was alright though
