There was massive clamour on here for us to make a move for him when he was at AZ but he seems to have vanished. Do think alot of these players that piss the weaker leagues in Europe get a slight shock when they realise the amount of defensive work that needs doing here if you're to be a success, regardless of where you play. Ali J (please don't ask me to spell it 😊) He was injured when he came and when he finally got a start looked (to me at least) short of the required level. For example at Goodison last season Glenn Murray was constantly in his ear trying to get him to make the right run or pass. Glenn really gave him a couple of earful. I don't know what to make of him as he hasn't done anything from (mainly) off the bench. No goals, no assists. We got a lot of Iranian fans off the back of this transfer but they are really fed up that their star man is not getting picked. He'd be an expensive flop

Must sides of our level must have looked at the dismantling of Southampton and seen another team that will be difficult to get points from in the quest for the magic 38/40pts Its not just that you are strong all over the pitch or blessed with so much pace, it's the quality of the football and the fact that Leicester don't seem to ease up. I'm quite happy that you'll take points from those teams around us
Spudulike Posted 24 November 2019 Posted 24 November 2019 Not sure why players need to encroach at penalties. Instead of trying to get as close as possible by standing on the 18 yard line, it would be better to stand further back and track the takers run up. Time the run into the box rather than a standing start from the 18 yard line.
orangecity23 Posted 24 November 2019 Posted 24 November 2019 From the FA website: a player of both teams infringes the Laws of the Game, the kick is retaken unless a player commits a more serious offence (e.g. illegal feinting); http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-14---the-penalty-kick
katieakita Posted 24 November 2019 Posted 24 November 2019 Being pedantic thought the keeper was off his line as well. Thought Brighton were tidy but missing a cutting edge also the first goal is so important and we got it when Brighton were probably playing their best
Guest Manini Posted 24 November 2019 Posted 24 November 2019 Is ‘illegal feinting’ the FA’s phrase for a dive? if so

This is something Potter seems to like us to do (it frightens the hell out of me) and we actually did it quite well at the Etihad. Ryan seems comfortable enough with it but he does get passed to a lot. Must be quite stressful Ryan is boss at throwing and with the ball at his feet. I can't say enough about how great a goalkeeper Mat Ryan is. Crazy how underrated he is. Get used to it your playing Football now!
ScouseFox Posted 24 November 2019 Posted 24 November 2019 it seemed a bit like brighton had no idea who we were which was quite remarkable. it's all well and good playing your own game but you do need to adapt to your opponents, and they seemed in absolute shock that vardy was quick for a start, which is a pretty good effort to have ignored that fact for the last 6 years. we should've hammered them but all in all it was sound enough. i did back them to finish top half at the start of the season though so if you could address the issue i have raised in this post and do that, i'd be pretty happy. thanks.

Quite alarming how we pushed up the way we did allowing, not just Vardy, but more than enough of your players to storm forward on a counter-attack. The first goal was well done by you but it seemed an age for anyone to get back. Duffy hadn't reached the D when Perez struck home for example. We the fans have been crying out for some pace for ages but missed Dunk on Saturday. For this game alone I wouldn't have allowed Duffy to go too far forward without more cover than we did. I also think it was a mistake not to play Alzate ahead of March but the former was playing halfway across the world last week so that might have been the reason. Likewise the absence of Gross was baffling as he is the main supplier of our chances thus far. Still we're learning as, we go along and haven't had too many days like this one. If we can play well at Liverpool and come out with some positives we can progress from there starting with Arsenal away where we can take some confidence from Saints' draw there on Saturday.

UniFox21 Posted 26 November 2019 Posted 26 November 2019 @Shoreham Seagull What are your thoughts on Potter signing a contract extension? Seems a bit soon to be signing an extension

Seems a bit soon to be signing an extension I think it shows a lot of faith in what is seen behind the scenes and not just on the pitch. Apart from a few curmudgeons there's a positive vibe about the place that hadn't been there for about 18mths but certainly since last October when 3 consecutive 1-0 wins masked over some real issues not just in the team but in the squad but actually saved our bacon in the end. Potter has us on the front foot much more now so hopefully there will be no more 'how do you watch this every week' chants like we got at Molineux in a goalless draw last April. Admittedly it does seem a bit early to be handing out a new contract though.

You’ve a great set up there, a lovely club which in the right hands could build something special. I hope you do.
