Guest worth_the_wait Posted 26 January 2020 Posted 26 January 2020 The BBC did some analysis in Sep 2018, on the actual number of people attending a match (and not just the quoted figure). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45158878 It's worth a read if you're interested in that sort of thing. They weren't able to determine exact attendances for all clubs, but of the clubs where they did get info back from (and some were just based on a sample of games), their summary findings were as follows: West Ham: Newham council says the average attendance at West Ham was 42,779 based on the 12 games it attended - which is 12,530 fans fewer than the club's season average figure of 55,309. Manchester City: Greater Manchester Police's average figures were 7,482 lower than club figures, again based on 12 games. Southampton: Hampshire Police figures were an average of 4,246 fans lower than figures issued by the club. Tottenham: Brent Council says crowds at Wembley Stadium were on average 3,740 less than the club's stated numbers. Chelsea: Hammersmith and Fulham council says its average was 3,505 fans lower than club numbers, based on six games. Watford: Hertfordshire Police says its average was 2,602 fans fewer than club figures, based on four games. Manchester United: Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Police both said United's published attendance figures matched its own, based on 12 games.

I'm sure I read the other day that they want to move into a new stadium. I wouldn't bother if I couldn't fill 11k seats in the PL. Christ. 10 hours ago, Collymore said: Yeah this amazes me. You'd think that even if you didn't really support them the chance to go and see the Premier League would be enough to sell twice their capacity. Maybe they're the one club that didn't include ST holders not in attendance?
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 26 January 2020 Posted 26 January 2020 There aren't an average of 1000 empty seats at Bournemouth each week. That's just wrong.
LinekersLugs Posted 26 January 2020 Posted 26 January 2020 Need to swap the Kop and Family stand surprised no one else thought of this

Knock out Ashley's 10,000 free season tickets and then we can talk. As you've all stated, these numbers are bullshit. Statistics that would hold water (but we will never see): - Percentage of butts in seats. People who actually came through the turnstiles, divided by capacity. - Percentage of face value realized. Actual gate revenues, divided by stadium capacity times full ticket price (or season ticket price for STH seats).
urban fox Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 At any game there will be a significant percentage of STH who cannot make it, so there will be empty seats. It is quite disingenuous of clubs to simply include the number of season ticket seats, on the assumption that all are occupied, in attendance figures. It is telling that the police and local authorities figures were consistently significantly lower than the figures released by the clubs.
boots60 Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 As at our stadium, there will always be sections of seats cordoned off / covered over for various reasons which brings the capacity down.
