Stoopid Posted 27 April 2020 Posted 27 April 2020 Fantastic, enormously gifted player, but also a really decent, top bloke who seems to love the club as much as we love him. One of the all-time greats in the Royal Blue.

One of the all-time greats in the Royal Blue. Exactly what I was going to say....Fantastic player but also a really nice easy going guy....As discussed in previous threads he was so willing to chat and pose for photos with kids and adults alike many years ago when the team visited Dublin during the O’Neill days ...easilly the most approachable and likeable guy in that squad with Elliott,Walshie and Guppy not far behind
urban fox Posted 27 April 2020 Posted 27 April 2020 Probably been said before in other threads but i am sure i read somewhere that when he did go it was only because he knew the club needed the money (administration) and he insisted in a buy back clause which he fully intended to activate until injury forced him to quit. Still lives in the Fleckney/Kibworth area i believe. remember my daughter coming home from school one day really excited cos as she was walking through Wigston Magna she saw him and he stopped for a chat with her and her friends. Really was an under rated player outside of our supporters and a top bloke who always had time for the fans, especially the youngsters.

Don't think there would be a possibility of a buy back arrangement.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 27 April 2020 Posted 27 April 2020 Showing why he’s in my all time top 5 favourite Leicester players. Such a great player, great burst from midfield, superb shot on him and good in the air. When my lad was at UEA they played football against Leicester university, and went for beers afterwards. He bumped into Muzzy in the bar and they had a chat, Muzzy got the drinks in for him. Top bloke. Love the guy, and he loved the club 💙

Then in the last few years we’ve seen sides that could achieve better than they ever did in terms of league standing and wonder if it was just nostalgia. But then you see the quality of these strikes and although the game has changed they’d be good goals in any era. Same with Heskey at his unplayable best - I don’t care how good Virgil Van Dijk is on the ball, he’d have struggled against Heskey in his final couple of seasons for us. Albrighton has been great for us and was huge the year we won the league, but I’d take a 98/99 Steve Guppy over him. Ndidi is a phenomenal midfielder in the modern game but would I take him over Robbie Savage of the late 90s in terms of effectiveness for the team? Tough one. I’m in danger of taking the thread onto a different discussion altogether but the point is that Izzet was great then and he’d be great now. Outrageous that he never played for England as many have said on this thread already. Agree with a lot of that but there is no way in a million years I would even mention Savage in the same breath as Wilf. Savage is many levels below Wilf in every respect in my view.
Hollyfox Posted 27 April 2020 Posted 27 April 2020 A propa Leicester Legend and a right laugh, I was fortunate enough to meet him once. Easily in my top 5 city players ever and named my dog after him😄💙💙

You know what he's going to do but he somehow still manages to get that cross in Guppy was miles ahead of Albrighton. To compare the two.is extremely flattering to Albrihjton (who I like) I reckon Gups was close to 50% in nailing a cross. Albrighton must be 10-20%

Just similar in style
