Ah - fascinating point.

I would say, with Rodgers, he's displaying an arrogance before having earnt it. If he was here as a multiple league winner, champions league winner, or a man who turned round an ailing vessel into a near unbeatable machine then it's a different context.

As it stands the arrogance I see in him is usually to his detriment, as in it has gone wrongly, and never resultant of having been the biggest fish in the biggest pond.

I do see your point, however. I'm holding them all to the same standard. When you're being a bit of a Billy Big 'Un - refusing to work with a bigger squad, making rash substitutions, rotating players who are obviously in form - then it needs to come with the gold standard results. Not capitulation under pressure.

He's done well, I'll grant you that, and I do see some 'down to earth' nature. Though lets not pretend this isn't the man who said he loved Swansea because he could smell 'the mince cooking in the air' when he ran through their slums. He's still a bit helium.

People are taking my view of his faults as some personalised assault. Let me assure you I don't dislike the bloke, just see huge room for growth. He is but a man - faulted and talented at once.

I'm not seeing the level of arrogance that you seem to do. I guess it's a fine line between having belief and confidence versus being stubborn or arrogant. To me, the latter implies underestimating or looking down on others. I don't think that's the case with Rodgers.

You could argue he's stubborn and inflexible in his methods, but I don't think 'rash' substitutions or player rotation are an expression of arrogance. Would you agree?

I might be misinterpreting you, but on one hand you say he's done well, yet you claim he doesn't get results and capitulates under pressure. How does that one work out?

With regards to not getting results and capitulating under pressure, I would argue that's a pretty unfair assessment - unless you level the same kind of criticism towards Klopp, who until last year had lost 7 out of 9 finals and lest we forget took four years to win his first trophy at Liverpool. And I don't think anyone would class Klopp anything else but a top manager.

Rodgers wasn't even given four years at Liverpool despite getting them to their best ever finish in the PL. Maybe he deserves a bit of slack and the benefit of the doubt.

In fact, Rodgers has pretty much delivered results everywhere he's been. He got Swansea into the PL for the first time; won all that he realistically could win with Celtic and has brought us to the second-highest finish ever in the PL.

It does feel like the criticism you aim at him is more based on your personal preference.

For the record, I'm not having a go at you, but I'm struggling to follow your logic.

I've seen David Brent mentioned again. What is it he's currently saying that merits this comparison? I'm not seeing it.

I think he's a very positive person and us Brits tend to hate that, we are bunch of cynical bar stewards, I think he would come across better in America with his postivity!

Looks like all the pundits are starting to get Rodgers to take the Manure job, would be mad to go there, management graveyard.

It really pisses me off the way they talk as if Utd want him it's a fait accompli.

Arrogant twats.
