Haha what a tool Gray is. On what grounds should he look down his nose at others? He took a wage rise with us despite kicking off about not playing.

Is it not just Gray's weird way of congratulating him on a new deal? People desperate for controversy but all I see his an in joke between friends. Maybe I'm wrong.

I understand what he’s implying, that doesn’t make it awkward for Fofana in the slightest. They aren’t related and don’t work together.

No doubt the money on offer is the biggest reason he's staying, but he's only being paid what he's worth. That contract means we protect our highest valued asset at the club, can build around him somewhat and still have the ability to cash out very handsomely on him when the inevitable super offer comes in.

 

Have we ever had a player of his age with so much obvious talent at the club before? Given that this guy IMO could already play for clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and not look out of place, I can't imagine so. He may well be up there with our top earners in Vardy and Schmeichel with this contract. And whilst he won't have done as much as those two have for our club, his resale value is infinitely greater than theirs. 

 

The risk is that his injuries can never be shaken off and he ends up perennially in trouble. That sadly is possible, but a club like Leicester have to gamble somewhat with their transfer strategy. E.g. pay over the odds for a non-league striker, sign that diminutive midfielder from the French League that has insane tackling stats but looks like he won't physically make it in the division, etc.

 

To his credit Fofana looks like he likes the club. Great rapport with the fans already, great attitude on the pitch, playing really well even when fasting for Ramadan, and so on. When we first signed him based on the haircut and transfer antics with Saint Ettiene I was a bit sceptical, but he's been such a revelation. His professional attitude is a nice surprise.

 

I just really hope we don't rush him back! I can't see us going down and whilst Europe again next season would obviously be brilliant, I'd rather start next season with a clean bill of health for all players than seeing episode 3 of the walking wounded. It was so unfair of Wes that his season was ruined, let's not ruin it again for him!
