I can't wait to hear the reception he gets when he does come on the pitch.

Imagine the roar as he comes off the bench (this would be better than a start). The sound will blow the KP roof off.

He badly needs a song

He's have to get a long term injury first which I think plenty would be happy about in the short term 😂😂😂

Announce Bertrand

Win, Win for all parties so absolutely buzzing with this!

Fofana will have earnt himself a pay rise & have peace of mind with the long term security as how he recovers from this injury is still relatively unknown.

We have protected the value of our asset and will command a huge fee for him should he carry on from where he left off.

Give me hope Fofana to the tune of Joanna. Was suggested a couple of times a while back in the new chants thread and think it would work well.

****ing magnificent. John Percy reckons he's playing against Rennes as well.

45 mins would be brilliant, 5 subs so no reason not to if he physically can

Im buzzing but a part of me thinks a 5 year deal is risky.

Especially after such a big injury.

Incredible news.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but normally with these big contract announcements the players say something along the lines of loving being here, but rarely do they explicitly say 'I'd love to stay as long as possible' as he has done in that video. Obviously that can all change very quickly when a giant European club comes calling, but that's a HUGE boost and testament to the culture at the club that he feels that strongly.

Fingers crossed any return goes well and he can get back to full speed by the end of the season. Presumably he's been 100% fine in training, so off the bench for a late cameo 15-30mins to get a great reception at home vs Rennes would be amazing, although I'd have no complaints if we wrapped him in cotton wool until after the international break just to be sure.

I would think he would only come on in an emergency. We really need to win this game - it's about as far from the ideal comeback game as you can get.

if he's named in the squad he's playing a part

A league game would be much better to bring him back. We're more or less safe in mid-table.

if he can't play the full 90 its a big risk, with 5 subs, this is the game to do it, Rennes aren't anything special so you could start him with the idea that he plays the first half then bring on Amartey, or Albrighton is Amartey starts at right back

Excellent news.

Please for the love of god do not reinjure him Brendan, I know what you're thinking but 90 minutes every 3 days after 8 months out is a bad idea.

What if he's not up to speed and we get dicked? That's the season over isn't it?

Not sure how we have pulled this off but buzzing nonetheless. This lad could be as good as anybody in the next few years. He really is immense.

It also says a lot about his attitude. Fofana clearly wants to prove himself, as let’s face it, most clubs would sign him even after his injury.

I am feeling much more positive now. Back to back wins and Ricardo, Justin and now Fofana all tied down to long term deals. I know that we have had all moaned at the club / Rodgers this season but they deserve credit for this.

if he's not up to speed he shouldn't be in the squad as he's not ready physically
