Have a think about this next time you say that the ticket price increases are justified.

Yeah but how can we afford new players if we all don't chip in a little extra!!!!

But that doesn't mean much when you have clubs like Newcastle, Villa etc. who are able to spend more.

Revenue generated is different to overall wealth.

There is no shame in saying we overachieved the last couple of seasons.

The whole debate about our 'status' - financial, performance-wise, facilities and any other aspect seems contrary to the ethos and dignity of Vichai and, now, Top.

In terms of finance, those clubs funded by the immense wealth of a. ex-Soviet oligarchs, b. Middle Eastern oil 'sheikhs' and c. US capital manipulators aren't playing on the same turf as City are.

So why compare our financial status?

In our performance, seasons by a season, City have utilised the backing of the Srivaddhanaprabhas to produce a string of hitherto unimaginable attainments.

And, it seems that every time we've strayed into profligate and inappropriate spending it's bitten us in the backside.

After the Premier title the 'Leicester Way' appeared to have been forgotten in the course of buying players who hadn't been assessed carefully enough in terms of fitting in to our scheme-of-things - whatever that currently is.

We are punching at a weight that's working for us. Until the laws/rules are changed to limit spending, then we have to box clever.

Personally, I'd love to see Chelsea drop a division and United accompany them. Whatever moral justification Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs and their fans can muster to justify their successes (sorry - leave the latter two out of that) is fairly hollow - for me anyway. Ok that they draw genuine fans and the money that they'll pay to watch. Ok that players want to play for them because of their ambition and tradition, but not because of the money they'll get for doing so.

In a country where millions are going to be facing long-term debt because shareholders of oil companies can't forget and forego their dividends for a year or two, in football maybe there could be a moratorium on big transfer spending for a season or two. Imagine Liverpool donating £20m to Liverpool's poor or Ukrainian refugees. Football has surrendered itself to Mammon. Time it remembered the true nature of footer.

The club still runs on season ticket revenue so dig deep guys and we'll be able to afford a new winger in no time!

One of Swiss Ramble’s charts was a better demonstration of “legal” financial doping than any 1,000 words I could write.

Look at the three clubs that are basically owned by oil and gas autocracies.*

Man City and PSG are both approaching ₤300 million/year in commercial revenue (and are the only clubs where it grew significantly during this COVID year).  Zenit don’t even make a pretense of having much income beyond Gazprom owner-sponsorship.

Just pump millions into the club as “fair value” for sponsoring the stadium and shirts, quick as you pump millions of barrels out of the ground.  Voila.  You’re hundreds of millions ahead of your rivals before you even begin ignoring other aspects of FFP.  You can litigate "fair value" to unlimited cost if any governing body tries to object.

NUFC will be into the 20 richest clubs in no time, and among the top few on this chart ...

Gotta reign our wage bill in sadly, have to accept that we need to shift a couple of players on decent money and try to replace them with younger more unknown qualities, but usually we get it right.

Do this for a couple of seasons until our revenue has grown even larger.

Seems like only yesterday that McKinlay and Summerbee were having to play for nothing! I appreciate that makes me sound old but it’s hard to not read things like this and not be a bit WOW 🤩

The old saying is "revenue is vanity profit is sanity"

Revenue means very little in isolation

The club lost £36.1m and suffered losses of £67.3 million the year before.

I'm not saying they are justified but you can't just use revenue as a barometer.

Worth noting, we are artificially high in the rankings this year due to accounting/COVID impacts.

Of the top 20, we booked the highest % of revenue deferred due to our accounting year

"in percentage terms, biggest increases came at clubs with 31st May year-end, so benefiting from more revenue deferred from extended 2019/20 season"

And we also had Europa League €€€, which won't happen every year.

But we should now be a top 20 club year on year.
