Attempted 5k pb again yesterday...two seconds slower at 20:40 😂 need to start the intervals training soon. Could do with doing a parkrun with a 20min pacer there too really!

Cheered myself up today though, did half marathon distance in 1 hour 45 mins. Managed to keep the pace below 5 mins per km at 4:57 which I'm pleased about no end.

Broke my 15k, 10 mile, 20k and half marathon PBs with that today. Also 10k in 49 mins which isn't far off my pb, so reckon I could get close to 45 mins in that distance now

If you can do 5km in sub 21 mins then you can get under 45 mins for 10km without major work to put in.

I have to shoot the lights out to go sub 23 mins for a 5km and I can do 48 mins for a 10km.

Quality half marathon that mate, 1hr 45 is my goal. I've done 18km at 4.57 pace but last weekend fell apart at Kettering on the back half and came in at 1hr 48.

Will try again in the coming weeks when I've worked my threshold back down.

Just under 2 weeks out from the Wakefield 10k and I know I'm in a much better position physically than I was last year. I ran a 49:05 last year which was a way off my 47:18 PB mainly due to injury. The aim for 2 weeks is to run a 47min 10k ahead of going sub 45min at Barnsley in June, lots to do but I genuinely have no idea where I'm at with how I have approached this race.

Absolutely buzzing.

46:38 at Wakefield this morning, a 40s PB and nearly 2 and a half minutes faster than last year around the same route. Had no idea where I would be with a lot of my training being at slower pace, a small shin splints scare last week and a few days away in London Thursday and Friday where I came slightly off the rails from a nutritional perspective.

Back to it training wise now and the ambitious task of going nearly 100s quicker at Barnsley in just over 3 months.

Did a nice park run in Edinburgh at Portbello which meant a great post walk along the beach. Paced it really well, so confidence returning

Bet that was ace, love all round that area.

Perfect morning there on Saturday too. The other central Edinburgh one is Holyrood. Around Arthur’s Seat 😂 I’ve done that as part of a bigger run a couple of years and didn’t want be doing it at full pelt

10k pb just now. 45:04

Pleased with that, although actually dropped off at close to 4:40 mins per km for the halfway stage. Somehow stormed the end with 4:13 and 4:14 in the last 2km

Gutted wasn't under 45 mins but the route I do does spend at least ten seconds twisting and turning around fencing where a railway track is so that's what's done it for me.

Been nursing a real pain in my back the last two days also so delighted with now I've run with that.

Separate note the weather is amazing right now. Although 15 degrees feels hot af to me rn so I'm dreading may/june coming 😂😂😂

That's excellent going.

I was on for a 10km PB this week as well but as per usual the GPS in London was all over the gaff. I noticed for what it claimed was the opening 2km was a good 3 mins 0.5km - 0.75km off.

I made sure I didn't deviate from my pace until it kicked in and sure enough I was then averaging 4 min 40/45 per km. So unofficially when I pieced what it should have been together it was more like around 47/48 min for 10km which my previous best is around 48.30.

10km is not really a distance I focus on but in trying to consistently bring my half marathon times down I'm getting some 10km PBs, which is a bonus. Do enjoy the distance, I think anything more than that is where it starts to become love/hate.

Don't envy running in London, must be a nightmare with how busy it can get even at the quiet times! Good going though that is even if an unofficial time.

I think 10km or 10 miles (16k) are my favourites but it does become more of a mental push over 10k I find. I enjoyed the half marathon distance on Saturday I did but wouldn't do that long more than probably once a month

My number came through for the Big 10k.

It's a very low number, which I hope people don't interpret as me being any good, as they'll be super disappointed

You doing the 9am or 10:20?

9.5 miles round Oadby and Stoneygate with a loop round the Uni. It’s absolutely fantastic seeing people who wouldn’t normally run, look absolutely buzzing after doing a park run. I hope they take that feeling into the weekend!

Ashby 20 tomorrow, I've really gone for it in terms of prepping myself by tapering down the runs, carb loading etc and no alcohol for the last week. Also rested all day today and recovery shakes after.

Like I've said before not after a time just want to see if I recover quicker than the Leicester half.
