Mladen Sormaz - Head of Analytics departing

Recommended Posts

Failed to retain another data analyst? Well we couldn't possibly blame Rudkin for this, we don't know what he does, other people, chain of command, answers to board etc etc

Oh, wait.

Nobody with a good CV stays very long at LCFC.

Sormaz, McGuinness, Macia etc.

And nobody wants to make their next career step at a place with massive financial problems and the likelihood of huge staffing cutbacks over the next two seasons.

If the top brass were competent they could sell it as a great opportunity for solid career progression at a club with some great immutable features (big fanbase, stadium, Seagrave, reputation) - you could come in and have blank slate to work with. Instead these cretins won't relinquish any control even though they're clueless. Instead we're the Costa Concordia off the coast of the championship.

I Work in this field (not football obviously!) So many red flags with the job description.

Also pretty telling that Sormaz held the Head of Analytics position, after he left we started advertising the lead data scents role instead.

Banrsnly seem progressive, Sormaz will do well there.

Sounds like they want 1 person to try and do everything from collecting information, budgeting / building / managing and maintaining data infrastructure, building and testing out models and then reporting this information back to the non data people.

These things have to be managed in teams. If its a very senior role then you would expect that role to report to the DoF but you wouldn't be expecting that person to do all those things, you would be expecting the job description to be about building out an exceptional data unit to provide this information.  Data modellers etc you would expect to report to the technology leadership.

Can you imagine any of our board with their academy coaching experience, duty free and jewellery experience understanding that? lol

Hardly, their a massive mess behind the scenes, the roles they state individuals performing rarely come to fruition or have the infrastructure in place for them to actually perform said roles. What they do provide is the opportunity for you to get that role on your CV and open doors to the next opportunity.
