54th minute of the game on Sunday - Steve Smith who sadly passed away recently and whose funeral was on Tuesday

For the opening game this weekend could we clap on the 54th minute to remember Steve Smith who sadly passed away aged 54. He was a huge Leicester fan along with his brother Tony who is a steward at the ground. For those that didn’t know Steve please read the Foxes Trust article to hear about the wonderful things he did for our club.

Steve was a season ticket holder for many many years and sat in SK2 U 152

I knew Steve for over 40 years and was incredibly proud of what he achieved despite the health challenges he had. His love for our club ran very very deep so please join me and his family in paying our respects to him as a way of a final goodbye and remembrance

Saw him on many occasions at McDonald's Wigston lovely bloke, difficult thing is this is about the 5th time I've seen a clap in a certain minute for somebody that's sadly passed away over the summer it all gets confusing and you don't really know who your clapping for.

I used to play Sunday League for Steve Smith's FC Cundy.  We were rubbish, I was rubbish and tbf Steve was rubbish, but what a great guy!  Such a lovely, positive and genuine bloke, I really looked up to him.

I haven't seen Steve Smith for maybe 25 years, but I am really saddened to read this!

Totally understand your view point, I feel the same but this time it is different for me as Steve was my friend so for me it is very personal, went school with him and played in the same football teams and watched City together. Even went to Coventry City away in 1984 with him, oh what a match.

I've worked with Steve for nearly ten years and was a very good friend I went to create a topic on this before I saw it had already been done, incredible bloke and massive city fan, I will be clapping anyway in the 54th minute, hopefully many more will too. Love you Steve.

We are fully supportive of the 54th minute applause for Steve, the request originated from a family member

We were aware of other requests for this first game and understand some of the views expressed above, we have noted that some other clubs have an annual photo montage on the large screens which we think is a good approach and intend to discuss with the club, of course they already have the annual remembrance service which is taking place on Sunday 14th August at 1.30pm
