I played in the same football team as him at Stokes Primary in Blaby.

 

He was very good. I wasn't.

That’s what made the FA Cup win so special, the fact that when I started supporting city as a kid we could never even get past the third round.

 

Smiths goal was so memorable, unfortunately I remember junior bent scoring in the next round about as much

I was there too,  seemed massive at the time!   Sidenote: my sister had a crush on Richard Smith!

You must be a couple of years older than me,  i played in the team for Stokes as well, we won the Rice bowl back in the day. 

 

Occasionally played football on the street with Smith and another great lad who didn't make it as far called Daz Clay. Great times as a kid.
