A hilarious and original joke which literally nobody on here has thought to make before.

Literally roflmao.

And even less funny than the "doesn't get picked, must have shagged his missus", and "always gets picked, must be homosexual lovers".😖

Because you still have to face the consequences if you breach it?

It's European FFP that we are struggling with. There's plenty ty of leeway with the PL, just look at what Everton, Villa and others get away with.

Well then we’re either slightly delusional—not to paying off Brendan because we think it’ll hinder our immediate European chances—or the UEFA FFP isn’t a good reason we’re not paying off Brendan.

I guess, depending on the exact rules, breaking it now could hinder us in the future, but again it still seems irrational: we’re heading towards the second tier not Europe.

Unfortunately, of all the middle clubs,I believe we were the first to come under

FFP scrutiny & since then we have carried a lot of baggage into each season...We fans only have a small idea how it really works, but Like you I would love to know, how Everton,A.Villa, and W.Ham,Newcastle seem not to be so hard handled, and another measurement & control is used...They all seem to spend up front more money than we did, not forgetting we were also the new boys on the block.Or did they actually cough up payed their fines, & just got on with it.

Without small time local media jumping all over their woes....

We absolutely try and tow the line and don't want to risk being made an example of. I just don't think we are as close to that risk happening and therefore it's not the reason Rodgers is being allowed to destroy our football club as we career towards relegation.

What makes you do sure , of your first sentence..

FFP would be nothing to do with any manager, spenditure is controlled elsewhere...

And I don't know where direct in most of the PL sides, where coach-managers have the slightest control over the transfer,-costs.Even choice on exact individual players.Today it's what & who

they like as suggestions, the interview process with managers-coaches is only part of that process.

Something fans still are finding it hard to grasp & understand..

Of course managers claim "their" success on players, but more on how they develope & succeed under their tenure.not because they handle 98% of the recruitment & transfer..!!

He's not still here because of FFP. The cost of relegation would vastly outweigh the cost of getting rid of him.

I reckon he's still here for one of three reasons: 1) Top and/or the board still believe he's a top-level manager and want to give him as much time as possible to turn things around; or 2) They accept he needs to go but haven't found somebody to replace him yet and are wary of sacking Rodgers before they find somebody; or 3) They have identified his replacement and have an agreement in place with them, but that person is not available until after the WC.

Or 4) Meth.

If we have to pay him off, then we need to add a new manager's wages to our bill on top of the compensation we've paid him - that's the only thing I can think of? Perhaps there are potential penalties on the horizon if we pay him the £10m as a lump sum, rather than in regular wage installments?

No clue to be honest. But he needs to get gone. There doesn't seem to be any logical reason - apart from finances - as to why he's still here. If it's not the compo, then there are bigger problems at this club.

But why would it be negotiated as a lump sum severance package? He’s happy to take his wages in instalments as it stands (presumably), so I can’t imagine why they’d negotiate an up front payment into the contract.

In any case, the money is already accounted for and will be spent whether he stays or leaves. So like you say, we don’t need to find the ~£10m to sack him, just find enough to get an interim manager through to the Summer which would be what, about ~£2m? He’s taking us down and we will be expecting the revenue that comes with being a premier league team.

I can’t imagine that they’re not sacking him to save a couple million, someone at the club must genuinely believe he’s still got it. I’m sure if we cut the asking price for Vesty then Fulham could’ve used that to supplement his wages. Instead we are letting him rot in the reserves. Not making that transfer alone probably costs  more than sacking BR and bringing someone like Dyche in as the interim. I just can’t see it.

I reckon I’m going to start spreading this rumour. Leicester fans started singing about how long Cag’s shlong was.  Brendan’s wife took it seriously and, of course, one thing led to another. (Turns out the chant was true, too) Brendan found out and dropped Cags from the squad. Brendan wanted to leave the club but his wife threatened to take the kids to Turkey with Cags if he did. And the club can’t let Brendan go because he’ll start a multimillion pound lawsuit for constructive dismissal if his wife elopes to Turkey.
