Love threads like this. Hopefully we get to see the following:

  • Era snobs who only like music from when they were younger and think anything produced since is rubbish
  • Genre snobs who only like a certain type of music and think anything produced that's not in that genre is rubbish
  • Ignorant types who won't like a certain song being top, either because they have a favourite from that same year, or simply haven't heard it

Music is fantastically subjective and the tribalism about it is genuinely fascinating. Not every song is for every one and maybe it's because I just have very little interest in the music industry, but if you don't like a song, it doesn't mean it's crap for everyone?

You missed off people that hate Mr Brightside with every atom of their being and don't understand why it would appear in any list other than perhaps the most weirdly unsatisfying songs ever i.e. me

'I fancy putting on some music...now what am I in the mood for...?' (puts on Mr Brightside)

You see, I just cannot imagine that ever happening. Has that ever happened?

I can’t imagine it not happening. And I have a very good imagination that would win awards if they gave out awards for having a good imagination.
