By that I mean, tactically aware and physically strong enough. When I've seen him, he looks technically very good. But little appreciation of positioning and space. 

When Cooper and Nistelrooy have been selecting under-performing players and teams all season long, then "being good enough" isn't perhaps a reliable yardstick to indicate Alves' (or anyone else's) justification for being selected. RvN seems to be stuck in the same rut as Cooper - unable to experiment because he's scared it'll go wrong and he'll be open to criticism for making a bad selection. I'd rather we went down battling rather than this current supine display.

A club like Birmingham would be a very good loan move for him, with Davies and Petty there. Only issue is they're poised for automatic promotion and will already have a very settled squad.

 

Sormaz at Barnsley is another we could hopefully use our past links with.

Disappointing that other than Hamza and Sam Hughes we haven’t sent anyone to Burton

 

Only down the road and they always have loads of loan players every season

My recollection was he wasn’t directly asked about alves, just young players in general. And he brought up Alves, may have not heard the question as I was working as well.

I looked at Sheffield United last season. They realised they needed to think ahead to the next season well before the end of the season. Granted points wise they were probably considered to be gone much sooner than we will be.

 

Either way, they looked ahead and started putting their young players such as Arblaster, Brooks and Peck in the side. Those players then have become key to them this season whilst they are fighting at the top end of the league. This season, partly due to injuries to first teamers, they have also been involving more of their academy players. 
 

It just shows how important forward planning is. We will keep doing what we are doing and be left with a massive job in the summer rather than starting that process now.

The danger of going to a club like Birmingham is they might end up turning his head and as we are both likely to be in The Championship next year they’ll have the money to test our PSR resolve.

Rolling out the “we are all together” line.

 

He said that to my face and quoted Rudkin as part of that, hardly a shock the players defend him seeing the wages he dishes out.

Big money at Birmingham now, they’ll start flashing the cash, actually giving Alves game time, he would have a decision to make. If he was loaned to say Shrewsbury, there’d be none of that risk!

Not quite the same context, but there are plenty on here who like seeing their barbed compositions posted on here and most on 'em ain't professional footballers. Alves has received compliments from many who've witnessed his talent and regretted that his progression has been delayed by injury. Bit of a cheap shot and not particularly amusing.
