Can anyone explain to me what goes through the minds of people that park at the royal on match day? Fills the carpark and causes absolute chaos when trying to see family. I'm as much as a Leicester fan as the next guy, but something about seeing drivers in Leicester shirts fill up a car park when you're trying to visit your brother with cancer makes my blood boil.

I’m with you on this one. The hospital car park should be for just that. There are people that need to use that car park for visiting/getting into the LRI.

if anyone who reads this are one of them - you are selfish, lazy and inconsiderate. Your space could be needed by someone visiting a terminally ill person or someone who couldn’t get an ambulance and needs to park. Also you queuing is delaying someone who needs the hospital from getting there in a timely manner.

Please be respectful.

Also not helped by the parking at the Royal at the moment being an absolute mess

I'm sure the Royal could stop it happening if they wanted to, perhaps like the £s it brings in. Put a time limit on it and beyond that the hospital could issue some sort of pass, surely not beyond the brains of some techie rthere.

Some football fans will park anywhere you'll never stop them.

They bring enough in anyway off of charging inpatients alone, pretty sure the only people they don't make money from are those who are admitted for longer than 6 weeks.

Ethical questions aside, we got more important issues with the nhs lol, it’s a terrible parking option. I walk across Nelson Mandela park and past the royal en route to the ground. It’s often absolutely gridlocked, meaning ABSOLUTELY grid locked. There is no space for any car to move and everyone beeps their horns whilst stationary. Why would you do it.

Believe me that car park makes more than enough. Plus that 6 weeks only gives you one parking pass and you still have to pay for it. So if there's more than one of you going you're stuffed

UHL hospitals have bigger issues to deal with than carparks at the moment

You talk as if this is about making profit, it all goes back into providing healthcare.

Where have I said that? Just pointed out they make more than enough from actual hospital users. Don't put words in my mouth.

It is getting worse now the carpark next to the tigers ground has been built on.

And saffron lane is about half the size.

That wasn't my intention.

Will be even worse if they ever get round to making the Ayleston Road/ Saffron Lane backstreets permit only

They’ve been threatening it for years

Who in their right mind would park at the hospital to go and watch City?!? Parking is horrendous there for patients and visitors on a good day let alone adding further cars that aren't even attending the hospital. You really have to question the morality of some people particularly on Boxing Day when no doubt families are visiting their loved ones who sadly couldn't be at home during the festivities. Sadly those responsible won't give a sh*t nor will they have the self awareness/intelligence to recognise the impact of their actions.

Unfortunately once you commercialise a car park people with money will park there out of convenience, only way to stop this will be if hospital car parks go back to parking out of necessity e.g visiting a sick relative
