Glad it has not been me that said this, everything that bangs now in England/Scotland is what would be described as an ultra song.

Things are "ultra-esque" when people don't like it

Just to add to the point raised about passion, it's certainly not through a lack of numbers home or away. All three clubs in the region are well supported in this regard, and have considerably sized fanbases. In the midst of all the valid points which have been made about our support, think it's worth bringing up the one about trajectory again in particular. The recent period of success is probably different from any other club in the modern day, while comparative clubs have been on the rise again after years of hardship. So there's obviously been the comedown from those highs, and while this may be a factor, at the same time it shouldn't be used as an excuse.

I agree it’s definitely part of it.

There are a number of factors at play for me.

For example you only have to look at photos and panning shots of our away end compared to either Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday or even Forest to see some key differences.

One small positive in this thread of (mostly) misery ...   I thought WYS was absolutely belted out last Friday.   The loudest I've heard it.

Yes it was brilliant highlight of the game but it baffles me that majority of people in the stadium would of enjoyed WYS more with that noise and scarfs but won’t put in the personal effort to get as involved for it in other games

May well speak for myself here but considering the English clubs that are synonymous with the Allez chant (even though it was taken from Napoli), it would boil my piss if we ever tried to get our own version going

Me too. If a rip-off of that is a serious suggestion then we might as well just sing Mull of Kintyre.

Also in addition to this, think it's important to note that as supporters we're obviously some of the hardest critics of our own fanbase and it can be easy to get lost in that. Not disputing any of the criticisms at all, but there's also been enough matches in years gone by that disproves the lack of passion viewpoint. In reality, although we're probably at the worst end of it for modern day home support, there's not a great deal of difference compared to most other clubs. It's just our club have ruined any credible reputation we once had through clappers etc, which makes us seem worse than we actually are. All fanbases go through cycles as well.

Speaking of the Ulloa chant, surely we can integrate Buanonnette into it instead of Leonardo

Don't fall in love with a player on loan (especially one with no buy clause and who is being courted by Arsenal and Liverpool)

393 pages of the same. It’s like Milton Keynes this thread, round and round in circles

Isn't MK known for not having any roundabouts?

Been reading this for a while as an interested party, thought I'd offer some thoughts as a relative neutral.

Was at the game Friday and I thought the atmosphere first half was actually relatively decent. Obviously it's a rivalry so I'd expect it to be a bit livelier but having done Saints, Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton and Leicester this season, that first half was by far the best I've seen from a home end in any of the aforementioned games. Second half was understandably subdued.

Poor atmosphere at the top of the English pyramid isn't a Leicester specific issue, it's a problem with our game in general. Take Forest for example, we had a good couple of years atmosphere wise but now we are becoming a bit more established and expectation grows, the atmosphere dies. Even when the City Ground is at its very best, it pales in comparison to teams across the continent with similar or smaller attendances.

Whilst I like the Ultra section you have (for want of a better term) and what they're trying to achieve, the nature of that style of support clashes with the traditional reactionary nature of English fanbases. You need buy in from a significant number of fans all placed in one area of the ground to make it work consistently.

In all seriousness though, i probably won't be attending another home game for a while now. Not sure exactly what it is but was stood there on Friday in a "rivalry" game thinking i'd much rather be at home on the sofa watching this. Think that was the final straw for me at least until they make wholesale changes with the fan experience. Will still do the away games as there's a hint of fan culture there.

Exact feelings I had as I was trying to get the section at the back to back the team on an even minor level.

I know we're primarily only interested in our own fanbase, but thinking about the cyclical nature of things.   Just take one example: Stoke City.

In the early/mid 1970's, they great support.  They by the early/mid 1980's, it was absolutely terrible.  As quiet a home ground as any.   When they got relegated to the 3rd Division it really took off again, and by the early 90's the Victoria Ground was as loud as anywhere.  Absolutely rocking.   I went there in 1993 and the noise of Delilah was off the scale.  They still had a great atmosphere in the early days of their new ground, but now the place is like a morgue.   You wouldn't say Stoke are not passionate, but at the moment their atmosphere is rubbish.   I don't know what Stokies think about it, but as an outsider it just seems that they're at the bottom of the cycle.

Those old style atmospheres don't exist anywhere anymore.

I would also say the younger generations coming through are not as passionate as they were back then.

More distracted by technology and more easily put off from singing.

That old style British football atmosphere is dead regardless of cycle
