I'm not even sure we need to know what he does - he's Director of Football, so whatever his job entails, it must be something to do with overseeing the football side of the business. Well, if we examine that, then we can see that the footballing side of the club is a massive shambles in every aspect this season.

  • Men's first team league position - failure
  • Men's first team coaching - failure
  • Men's first team manager, plus recruitment of replacement manager - failure
  • Men's first team transfer business - failure
  • Recruitment of new head of recruitment - delayed and missed summer window. Business in that window - failure
  • Contracts of first team and using them to avoid losing valuable assets on free transfers - failure
  • Academy U23 side- relegated. Failure
  • Development of academy players for first team - largely a failure
  • Medical side of first team and injury management - failure
  • Medial side of academy - failure

Unless he can somehow claim an absolute lack of any responsibility for overseeing any of the above, then he has overseen a catastrophic and total failure of all footballing aspects of the club (with the exception of the women's team, who may narrowly avoid relegation), that will lead to the business seeing its revenue down by 2/3rds next seasonn due to the massive drop of in TV revenue.

My God. That summary is not good.  They said the Titanic was unsinkable, may be Rudkin is Titanic II?

And this is exactly why nothing ever changes. The Rodgers out protests were pathetic. You call a few sheets of A4 being held up while a few Rodgers Out chants are heard somewhere in the Kop a protest?!

The reason Rodgers stayed in post for so long is because the vast majority of fans stood there like slack-jawed willy pullers and left after 75 mins every game.

The fans have been atrocious at voicing their opinions and calling for change or even holding the club to account. They’re atrocious because we have too many fans who are just grateful we’re higher than league 1 or who don’t think their voices will make difference. They will

what lengths did you go to? genuinely interested.

see a lot of people blaming fans for doing nothing but didn't see anyone doing anything at all, tbh.

enlighten me.

It's clear as day, this guy needs to go. We need a proper shake up. Problem is, Top doesn't strike me as the guy to make those ruthless footballing decisions.

I live over 200 miles away and since I moved im no longer a season ticket holder. The reason I’ve set this thread up is because I’m quite willing to contribute financially to a co-ordinated protest if others are willing

i can’t get to the ground regularly - but if people are interested in clubbing together for something visually effective that sends a message to Top (eg the Moyes Out plane) then I’d support than and help to co-ordinate

Christ! That puts it into perspective doesn’t it. In ANY other multi million pound business, he’d be sent packing with his tail between his legs.

Surely Top doesn’t take ‘loyalty’ that far?!

Please read through the thread before coming out with comments like this. I’ve clearly stated that I’d expect us to be down by the West Ham game. I’d hardly want to organise something against the DoF if we needed a win to survive

Old Rudders is Rudderless, this Guy needs to have his resignation done, ready to hand into Top when this nonsense season is over, he has resided over a complete and utter shambles of a season.

They do if they've got any self pride.

By the time you go to the match, we will already be down because we are getting nothing at Newcastle. Why support those players who have not given a shite for months? Do they come and see you when you are bad? The time has come for us fans to let Top, Rudkind, and Weelan know we have had enough and want our club back. Sell up and fack off please.

I appreciated OP giving an answer and it's fine, 200 miles away etc. but the level of disdain for those who attended who have 'done nothing' is disproportionate with the level of activity OP has put in themselves. Words on a forum are easy, action not so much and we've seen A LOT of words from a lot of posters but all we've seen is some paper held up and maybe the odd banner.

A lot of complaining about lack of effort is being done but not a lot of effort has been put in.

Just find it mental that we've got one or two people on here who keep posting stuff like 'the fans asked for this by doing nothing' but they didn't actually do anything either. When questioned say stuff like I was vocal about Rodgers out and got weird looks 18 months ago - ok well you shouting Rodgers out by yourself at the end of a game is hardly pulling up the trees you seem to think it is.

Again - please read the thread. You’ll see on several occasions that I’ve said I’m prepared to initiate and co-ordinate something. The fact I haven’t until this thread doesn’t mean I shouldn’t criticise fans who attend games for being too passive in my opinion

If he isn't dismissed after this debacle he never will be. My guess is, he'll still be here this time next season when we're languishing mid table in the championship.

Let us know the detail on what he has done wrong versus the others, then I will let you know if I’ll join in.

In other words, nobody knows which bits are his decisions, which are Rodger’s, which were Susan’s and which were Tops.

Another thread of let’s find someone to blame and throw them under a bus when we don’t actually know what everyone does.

I heard Vestergaard came in because Kasper wanted him in, his idea. So who do we blame here, Kasper, Top, Rodger’s or Rudkin?

You wonder why they sometimes don’t like engaging, players, board etc, it’s because they know that when something goes wrong the crowd turns on them.

We do know and with all due respect I’m not going to go and do your research for you. The role of the executives has been detailed extensively over the years in The Athletic and by several other well regarded journalists with sources in the club

And by the way the fans have never been close to protesting against the KP group - even as we look set to sink almost as quickly as Leeds did. The fans have been incredibly supportive and shared in the success and through the previous relegation battles. The KP group have always been hands off with the fans and media, it’s just their style

We do know do we? Then educate me on who instigated the signings, each and every one please?

Let me know the detail with regards to the Vestergaard signing and what involvement Kasper had?

Its all good saying we do know, well if you do then inform us all on here.

Like I am fascinated on whose idea it was to sign Tete as an example and whoever instigated it, what thoughts did Rodger’s have on this etc.

Be really interested to know as you have the knowledge and I don’t.

I think we will find you don’t have the knowledge and so this “ I’m not going to do your research for you” is you just trying to pass off that you haven’t a clue on the signings either but don’t want to admit it

Who was talking about individual signings? I have no idea why you’ve taken the thread in that direction. Jon Rudkin doesn’t individually scout and recruit players and never has. This is a thread about Rudkin and his role as DoF. You’ve come on here saying no one knows what he does, what Whelan does and what the other execs do when it’s been written about extensively - both following our title win and in the last 2 seasons

Why on earth that’s got anything to do with who decided to sign Verstergaard I’ve no idea. We have a recruitment network, a first team manager and a head of recruitment that are all part of a 3 man decision making process - that’s been discussed at length as well. Go and find the articles - I’m not doing it for you

What this thread is about is Rudkins role as Director of Football. Look him up and you’ll get an overview of what that role entails

It's very common for DOF's to be responsible for the terms of contracts, signings, departures amongst many things.

Our average wage was last reported to be over £90k a week, we spent all of last summer being told we couldn't sign anyone and had to move fringe players on and we didn't.

We rejected bids for players who wanted to go and weren't particularly wanted in Praet and Soumare, we opted to extend Choudhury's £60k a week contract by another year so that his contract wasn't up this summer but also didn't want him any longer and then despite all the failures over the summer through to the end of January, on transfer deadline day we appeared to have learnt absolutely nothing by offering Jack Harrison £100k a week (quoted from journalists close to Leeds Utd).

When you factor in we've got in to the position of numerous players contracts running down and losing over £100m worth of players for nothing is in itself hugely unacceptable. When you factor it in to other elements of failure and decline and the spot light is very much on the board and individuals who don't appear to be performance measured, yet they should.
