Genuine question here then; if such a device is fed cruelty, will it not give cruelty back as output, as that has formed at least part of the input, and if not, why not?

Because your response won’t train the model or change its code. It might influence the response but not the model.

Got it, appreciate the distinction then.

Takes it better than my staff when I call them dickheads.

It even wrote their redundancy letters for me.

Wait until a robot smashes the door down, steps into your office, and says, "you're fired!" before eviscerating you with a mini-gun.

Or have I watched too much Hollywood?

I'm so torn on AI.

On one hand it's putting me out of business, but on the other hand it's just helped me to bleed my radiators and repressurise my heating system which I wouldn't have dared touch in the past.

Plumbers are human beings dammit! The sooner you realise that they have feelings and are not robots, the better!

If anything, it just shows how the "don't worry about losing office jobs, everyone will become plumbers" is naive, as you're using AI for something you almost certaintly would have called a plumber for a couple of years back. I just dont see how AI doesn't just replace so many jobs, and no one can still explain what these jobs will be that will apparently replace them

Relax, Musk who has proven his generosity to the unemployed in his time at DOGE, has said we'll all get universal income and live the life of Riley at the tech oligarchs benevolence.

We will have to become soldiers to fight the Ai robots and save the human race.

Jokes aside, as an IT guy,  AI is dangerous and people need to wake up. They give us the easy shit to make us all comfortable and then bam, take over begins!

There is 0 plan for the jobless.

That's my conspiracy thoughts for today.

I need tea.

That's the sales pitch.  The reality may be slightly different.

Remember, folks:

In the future, if AI were to want humanity out of the way, it wouldn't have to fight us.

All it would have to do is convince us to fight each other. And destroy each other.

And we're already pretty good at that, so it wouldn't be much more of a push.

If these rogue AI agents can already hack into governments and major corporations then why not banks next?

Imagine soon we'll wake up one morning and everyone's accounts will be empty. That'll be interesting...

Clutching at straws a bit, but the AI companies do let their release models find flaws in financial institutions security before they’re released in the wild letting them fix vulnerabilities. Such a weird dichotomy that these thing can save and destroy in equal measure. Not a surprise it’s government websites developed on the cheap that are getting smashed.

Someone a couple of pages ago asked for a list of reasons as to how AI could hurt us.

That one came up, as well it might.

Serious question,

Is it already doing that?
