Atalanta look like finishing 4th now - does that mean a 6th Italian team can get into the Champions league or will Bologna in 5th have to go through the play-off stages?

 

This is crazy !

From Twitter:

Club Brugge finished the regular season 19 points behind and became champions as the points were divided in half in the playoffs and they went through that period well.

Just 5 teams according to Wiki. Bologna go straight through to League phase. 

 

There's an extra Europa Conf League place for Torino (9th) if Fiorentina beat Olympiacos in the ECL final. 

 

9 teams in Europe next season, and Napoli aren't one of them!

Bochum 3-0 down from the first leg of the relegation playoff against Fortuna Dusseldorf, looking dead and buried at that point, have just pulled it level in the tie!

Not a fan of Bochum winning to be honest - nothing against the club but I don't like those play offs that give chance for reprieve for shite seasons. Dusseldorf should've gone up because they did well, Bochum should've gone down because they were crap. If you have the space, award it to the team who's been good?

If I'd not had a dog in this fight then I'd totally agree with this. The incumbency retention rate is nothing short of ridiculous.

 

An 18-team division can stand to lose three teams automatically every season.
