@Mark

I’d just replied really extensively @leicsmac but I think @CornwallFox must’ve reported me so therefore I’m blocked from another thread 😂

God/Allah forbid you have an alternative opinion

That's unfortunate, but this is a privately owned forum and so we post at the sufferance of the owner and mod team, I guess.

Feel free to send the quick and ugly version via a direct message if you so choose.

I had the longer more rectangular Spectrum 2 128k with built in datacorder (cassette player).

I am also a Nintendo kid over everything else. Sega can go suck an egg. I had a Megadrive at one point but the SNES was vastly superior.

Personally I went straight from second generation (Commodore Amiga) to fifth generation gaming (Sony PS1) without having anything in between, so never really got to use either the Nintendo or Sega early consoles much.

That being said, Sonic >> Mario IMO.

Better graphics, better control system and gameplay and better characters (Robotnik is a much better villain than Bowser, for instance).

Of course, Sega dropped the ball hard after the first three games and the recent Mario games have been far superior, but I believe we're only talking early to mid 90s here.

That's an enviable set of gaming / porn machines

For me, it was a Commodore 64, then numerous computer towers, nearly all home built, running Windows 3.1, then Win 95, then Win 98, then Win XP, then later Win 7, then Win 10, then Win 11. They all still work apart the Commodore, which was binned about 40 years ago. My favourite OS apart from Win 7 and Win 11 is Linux Mint 19.2, which is an excellent open-source OS, and one of several really stable (and not uber-geeky) Linux distributions.

PopOS has been my distro of choice for some time now.
