Given how every team is now just attempting to pack their goal and kick the shit out of us, it isn’t surprising. He limped off after an exceptionally agricultural challenge tbf.

4th January Kettering v Halesowen, provided Yeltz get through a couple of tough ones between now and then, should be a cracker

They’ve a nasty run of matches, but we’ve forgotten how to litter a goal with shots.

We’ve got the banana skin of a top vs bottom clash and the Harbs derby to come, plus a tricky away at Stratford. Could really use those two new signings.

Boro returning to Nuneaton... well for 90 minutes at least, boxing day derby at Nuneaton Griff. Expecting 2k to be present which will be the record for griff, last biggest attendance i think was in 2014 and it was 800 against Salisbury in the Fa Vase. Its weird an away day as such which closest to my house.

Those who’ve really taken up following a non league side, do you get more joy/despair from it than supporting Leicester?

mate of mine is an Everton fan but got a season ticket at Marine and said it’s made football 100x better for him. He feels part of something again.

I’d say so, much better experience enjoying a pint pitchside, and it doesn’t take long to be on a first name basis with players, playing staff and club officials. Particularly with the way Leicester are ran currently it’s refreshing to have that transparency and accountability all the way through a club.

Much easier to get involved and make a difference too, especially it’s supporter-owned (as Hinckley are). Leicester just feels depressing at the moment whereas AFC there’s plenty of potential ahead and you aren’t treated like a mug for bothering.

I hated football almost as much as I hated King Power and what LCFC had become. I seriously loathed everything about the club - and not bothering with STs or memberships was incredibly easy. Not bothering with match tickets then became simple.

From the first match back at the Poppies after buying a season ticket, I returned home with a broad smile. Over the last two seasons the bond has become stronger - regardless of the first one being nothing but humiliating defeats.

I volunteer to maintain the grounds, know everyone by first name, and can be regularly found in the clubhouse away from fixtures. Above and beyond anything else, the club is the people who volunteer there and the community it serves.

Matchdays start at midday with pints and pizza, awaydays are a joy of experiencing tiny grounds for the first or second time.

I couldn’t give a flying fvck about international or the professional game, this is real football - everything the soulless part of the game has forgotten or forsaken.

I get nothing but joy, there is no despair. A loss is simply a loss, the day is far more than that.

Brilliant post that.

Given I’m well into smoked salmon, real ale, mini Guinnesses and a variety of cheeses, I’ll take that as the compliment it probably was 😁

I have a season ticket at jersey bulls (step 5) and go here and there. It’s pretty boring and dull. It’s cool because I know one of the players, you see the opposition and ref out in town afterwards and you can have a pint of watered down lager out of a plastic cup during the match. But it’s only about 700 people, the football is shocking and it feels small time. Much prefer the bigger sense of occasion, crowds, athletic ability and pace of going to Leicester.
Rightly or wrongly I don’t take Leicester too seriously, it’s a fun pastime for me, once it stops being fun, I’ll stop all engagement and forget they exist

This seems healthy, fair play, a lot of us need to take this approach

It changed my life in ways I could never have foreseen. It took me from my love of the game slipping away to becoming utterly committed to a football club.

We haven't had too much joy this season, and it hurts more when we lose. Once we get it right, it will mean the world.

Great question. Non-league Football is virtually the only thread I read on Foxestalk these days.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

If it wasn’t for this thread I’d probably not post at all anymore.

Finally got my money back off Banbury, so reluctantly I’m taking them off the naughty list.

They have been replaced by Harborough Town and Leics Constabulary for making our Boxing Day game all-ticket and limiting us to 400.

So the 23rd will see hundreds more cramming into our clubhouse in an effort to secure entry. Just potty. I don’t recall any trouble between Harbs and Kettering - and conflating us with Corby is just plain damn insulting.

I do find this entitlement from established non league clubs amusing. Bury had the same whine and expected half the ground.

As far as I’m aware you have not take over 400 to any league game in recent times so the allocation will be just fine.

You may get a few more if Harborough have some left. But the club/police can’t win really as I’d seen Kettering fans on twitter upset at the thought it wasn’t going to be segregated.

11am kick offs in Eastern Counties League. This Norfolk village feels like it could be in Wales. The ground is in a former Village, the mist and perma-drizzle in situ. The pitch is so heavy and will make most feel like they are playing two games. And yet these lads are playing again on 28th. Manager imposed a booze ban supposedly

You’re aware wrong then. We took 500 to St Ives, swamping their support, and have taken over 400 to a couple of others this season. Given away contingents aren’t reported and can’t be calculated, you must have some kick arse method of assessing us “entitled” clubs from matches you’ve not attended.

Lakenheath and then hopped over to a watch a wretched goalless draw between Mildenhall & Bury.

It was a Suffolk village btw
