Absolute bonkers league

Watched St Albans city beat Hemel today 1-0 along with 4000 others (impressive number ). Sadly now need a win at Truro (currently top of table) last fixture and hope other results go for them.  Otherwise it’s the isthmian league with hashtag united !

That is a shame .

Very poor start has cost them unfortunately.

Shepshed 1 - 1 Quorn

It says a lot when a draw to secure a whole season unbeaten away from home is looked upon in mild disgust.

Quorn making a few changes from previous weeks leaving out Captain Rico disrupted the midfield already struggling with no Noble & Bezza present.
A huge call from the Ref sending Shepshed Keeper Dan Wallis off for colliding with Paddy Webb when thru on a one on one and after Webb had tried to lob him but the ball bouncing over the bar. Apparently if the goal would have gone in, a yellow would only have been shown. Quorn MOM Billy Kee scoring from the resulting free kick. Missed chances again costing Quorn with the stand in Dynamo Goalie having a blinder.
Second half came and it was difficult to see who had the man advantage. Quorn finding it difficult to get the grips with the conditions and pitch resulting in Louis Samuels grabbing the equaliser. The home team could have and should have maybe won the game.

The point was enough to take Quorn’s tally to a ridiculous 100 for the season.

Ashby beat Gresley, which meant that if Kimberley won and sleaford got a point Gresley would be relegated.

Kimberley won, sleaford were 2-0 up.....ended up losing 3-2 and were relegated, saving Gresley.

Crazy to see Gresleys fall from grace, back in the 90's it was only their ground that stopped them winning promotion to the Football conference (national league) which was step 1, if they had been relegated today they would've played at step 6.

Even a couple seasons ago, they’d just got promoted to step 4 with good gates and were looking up on and off the pitch with a big ground move on the cards as well… but that became a money sink and the managerial choices came to roost. Now the ground is called off and they’re having to fight off relegation to step 6.

With the National League at present with three of the bottom four being southern teams we may see Bedford Town who are currently top of the Southern League Central going into National League north and maybe Hemel Hempstead Town being moved from the National League South to the National League North. No doubt there will be probably be big stink from Hemel Hempstead about the extra traveling.

Big game at Barwell as they fight relegation. Got the same amount points as fifth from bottom Redditch Utd, but goal difference leaves them in the bottom four.

Barwell face Spalding Utd, who with a huge goal swing could still make the play offs or be it a miracle, Redditch home to already relegated hitchin, whilst also Bishop Stortford are far from safe who have tougher task away at Bromsgrove sporting.

Kettering Town have still have one little hope of the title if they can win and Bedford lose. Both are at home, with Kettering with better GD.

All dependent on the Southern Premier South playoffs - some rumblings that Merthyr might be the unlucky ones but if Gloucester win the playoffs, the league has an easy answer.

Generally speaking the travelling is about the same due to Torquay, Truro, Weymouth.

CCL south playoffs penned for this weekend are cancelled as Jersey bulls appeal against their points deduction for fielding an ineligible player. Announcing that at this late stage means Jersey and their associated sponsors/backers have offered a brown paper envelope big enough to convince the league to stfu and promote Jersey, according to some backers I know. I am sure I will get the full lowdown eventually.

Weirdly satisfying that sport at all levels is bent as hell.

Gloucester have already been in the national league north so wont be an issue for them. Plus potentially means a sort of derby with Hereford FC.

Looks odds on for Harborough v Kettering in the play-offs. Bedford should win it, Harborough should finish 5th (what could go wrong !?)

Big games in the Southern League Central this weekend, though of course Stratford Town still need to play there game in hand against Alvechurch which may not take place till next Monday after the rest have finished their fixtures. So some teams may not know till Monday if they have made the play offs, unless Stratford lose on Saturday.

AFC Sudbury v Harborough Town - Harborough need a win to secure a play off spot, other wise hope other score go their way.

AFC Telford v Royston Town - Telford will be wanting to secure an home advantage in the play offs, it's not impossible they could finish second if Kettering lose.

Barwell v Spalding Utd - Barwell down if they lose, a point maybe enough if Redditch Utd lose. Barwell could stay up even if Redditch win but hope need to hope if Bishop Stortford get nothing against Bromsgrove.

Bedford Town v Stourbridge - Simple Bedford only need a point to be crowned champions

Bromsgrove Sporting v Bishop Stortford - Bishop Stortford need a win to be certain of survival, draw maybe enough but could get tight if Barwell and Redditch Utd both win and with the goal difference tight, Bishop Stortford could still end going down even if they draw.

Kettering Town v Banbury Utd - A win secures second spot at minimum, but if Bedford lose. Kettering will be champions due to the better goal difference. A defeat with a huge goal swing they could drop to 3rd, which guarantees home advantage in the semi finals of the play offs however could mean an away trip in the final.

Redditch Utd v Hitchin Town - Redditch Utd weirdly a win maybe not enough due to the tight goal difference, if for example Redditch Utd only secure a narrow win against Hitchin and Barwell better their score. They could still go down, they would need to hope Bishop Stortford gain nothing at Bromsgrove Sporting. At present the goal difference works in Redditch United's favour.

St Ives Town v Stratford Town - With Stratford's game in hand, it may still leave things unresolved until Monday for that last play off spot. If Harborough or Stamford win the wait won't be needed as it will be decided. If neither Harborough or Stamford pick up wins on Saturday and Stratford do beat St Ives. They must beat Alvechurch in their last game and better their goals difference by three goals. Stratford need maximum of six points to stand any hope.

Stamford v Halesowen Town - Tasty one this, Stamford will be needing a favour from Sudbury. Win for Stamford and Harborough don't win, it's Stamford in the play offs, a draw maybe enough for Stamford to sneak into the play offs but would need Harborough to lose. However they maybe forced to wait if they draw especially if Stratford Town win. Halesowen will be keen to secure the home advantage, of course need a favour from Royston, if they can hold off Telford they could nick third.

Exciting weekend in the southern league central.

Stratford play their game in hand tomorrow. Makes sense really, season needs to finish on the same day, if possible.

Barwell to go down

Ash Chambers to Quorn. Would hope for more but the money isn’t there by all accounts.

Brady Hickey should walk into any Step 3 club maybe even Step 2. Leamington maybe.

Plenty of takers for Peps, Master, Waite, Rowe-Turner & Brown-Hill

Now it looks like they have found an 'issue' with Redhill which means they may not be promoted as champions. Unbelievable.

The CCL south has sold itself to the highest bidder, open corruption and fraud LOL

First season at step 5 on target for Hinckley with a top half finish and reasonably competitive for the play offs but until the last five or six, learning points is that the top three are just head and shoulders above us, both on the pitch and with the funding off it. Mental to think at Step 9 of the English pyramid you’ve got teams spending upwards of £2,000 a week! Three very good outfits however, and even though they’ll likely be favourites I’m still not sure AP will get over the line. Only hope is past Eynesbury it’s a Rugby Borough who have had a very poor second half of the season and a March who aren’t quite their level. Will be behind them as it’d be great to have another Leicestershire, especially within city borders, go up and increase the representation at the right end of non-league, and secondly cos it gets them away from us! lol

Next year could shape up interestingly, Nuneaton all but confirmed, both Rugby clubs assuming AP are up, potentially Atherstone over (but I can see them going up). A few very decent local derbies with good attendances you’d expect, and a good opportunity to up the profile of the club in those games. Will be a big summer too commercially looking to keep progressing as sustainably as possible!

Boston United are officially safe ahead of the last day with a 2-1 win over Gateshead.

It could be a humdinger of a final day at the bottom, mind. Only two teams definitely down so far with two of the four remaining places to be decided.

Also confirmed that Truro City are promoted from the NLS and Carlisle United relegated from League Two, setting up what will surely be the longest away day in football.
