2-0 Briggs , Neale with a 2nd assist as well

2 goals and 2 assists in his first 4 at u21 level then. Not too shabby!

Not quite got to 90 mins yet appearance wise either lol

Seems like the u21s have a real exciting crop of forwards at the moment

It’s been an interesting second half of the season so far. The decision to move capable u18’s up early is encouraging too.

Perhaps Mcsweeney was a good appointment. Especially given he’s coached all the u18’s he’s bringing through.

4 wins in a row in all formats, up to 10th in table in the league and only 5pts between 10th and 4th.

God I hope we utilise the academy next season. One reason I’m not that bothered about going down is the prospect of really giving these guys a chance.

Fed up with how stale our squad is.

Briggs is very good. Has been around for a while now rather than part of the U16/18 lot that have come through this season.

He's a year below Alves and they are of similar ability IMO. Briggs has seemingly always had a better eye for goal at U21 and U18 level too.

I think if it weren't for injuries (one a nasty away from football serious injury) then he'd already be more talked about. But he could well be the pick of the lot, still only just turned 19. Hopefully progresses in to the 1st team with us next season ar gets a loan at least to League One/Two.

What do you know about Josh King? He’s got 7 goals in 17 games across the 18s/21s/PL cup. He’s only 17.

He's another who we've known about for a while as he came through to the U18/21s when he was 16 and has shown flashes of being a pure goalscorer.

He's suffered from a few injuries as well that seem to stunt his momentum but he looks talented.

Just got back from my first outing at Seagrave. Really enjoyed the evening.

Thought JJ, Aluko, Cartwright and Briggs were excellent. Monga looked to be carrying a knock to me, Golding has fairly tidy feet, but looks completely immobile, can’t see him succeeding at a higher level. Braybrooke is tidy, but lacks physicality. Aluko looks very good, brave footballer and bundles of energy. Briggs caused problems all evening, his goal was a lovely bit of work.

Like the look of Cruz Allen too, might be worth seeing if we can steal him away from Derby?

Hopefully with Golding that’s because he’s been injured and this was his first game back.

I was thinking that. He looked like he was holding back. In terms of technical ability, he looks sound!

There's no question of ability with Golding IMO, you can clearly see his pedigree from coming through the ranks at Chelsea. He's got lots of technical ability but sometimes you need far more than that to make it even at a low level. Constant rumours about his attitude don't help and hopefully he gets a loan move next season to League One and he prospers.

It’s the first time I’ve seen him play live, as someone mentioned he may have been injured, which is possible as he was holding back. Like you say, there’s clearly some technical ability there, but just getting around the pitch he looked laboured. Cartwright has shades of KDH about him, I liked his performance last night, he had a real presence about him, and loves a 40 yard spray pass!

To be fair, I thought most of the lads looked decent, JJ really stood out just his overall performance and calmness…. Hopefully, they can continue on an upwards trajectory!

It's a refreshing couple of hours entertainment to go at the minute, me and my boy love it and it's the hope and positivity of what the future may hold for these young players that adds to it. A welcome break from what we feel and see at the business end of the club we hopelessly follow through thick and thin.

Cartwright is a proper grafter, want to see him get a loan move next season to League One if he's not considered Championship level come pre-season.

How many do you think could be getting significant minutes in the first team next season?

Nelson (injury return pending) is the obvious one and could build the defence around him.

Alves, if he stays fit and injury free (as there are often reoccurrences after major injury) is looking positive based on his start at Cardiff.

Evans and Monga are hugely hyped but are quite young so maybe we more likely see them off the bench.

Briggs as an AM seems to be getting good reviews and is already 20 so you’d expect him to come through soon if he is going to. Or is a loan more likely.

Cartwright, does he look likely or too early?

Joseph and Josh King?

The good thing is they are different positions. With Alves, Evans and Monga being wide players, Nelson CB, Cartwright and Briggs are more central I believe but Briggs attacking and Cartwright defensive. Joseph full back I believe.

Theres a really opportunity to give significant development here but it depends I suppose on the manager but I am interested from someone who watches regularly, how many of them appear they they could be ready to come straight in rather than out on loan.

Exactly what I thought, took two mates and we all said a good standard of football, and it’s great to see young kids having the opportunity to be that close to the action, and a bit more relatable athletes to look up to, for now. 100% going to start going more regularly!
