It helps implement a ideology, when Pep was first at Man City, they had problems, they opened the cheque book and got him the right players for his system.

But I do agree, if you get a manager to fit the squad, someone pragmatic, you can have success without spending big.

As the wage demands rise with the talent of your squad, you need to pay them appropriately, otherwise they'll leave or not be as committed. So you do need finances if you have aspirations of getting anywhere.

This has been bubbling for a while now and I think it needs to be said.

Money won’t buy you success.

It may however allow you to have more rolls of the dice until you get it right.

Manchester City have spent over £500m on defenders alone since the Saudi takeover, that’s insane.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs etc have all thrown money at it and the league can only have one winner. Football is a crazy world. It’s entirely pointless but fans lap up the Sky Sports and social media hype for transfer like it’s some sort of circus spectacle.

I’ve just been reading that Lookman is now valued at over £50m! One season of decent form in Italy, and he’s worth 5 times what he was when we had him on loan. Is he realistically that much better than Fatawu?!?

One persons rubbish, is another persons gold. You can build a team, a squad even for next to nothing if done correctly and a good coach is given time. We did it on a budget. Any team is capable but everyone wants to get into the todger swinging contest of splashing cash like they want to burn through money whilst drunk in a casino. A player who’s purchased for £100m, doesn’t mean they’re any better than someone you picked up for £1. We all all human and form, ability, pressure etc all impact what happens on a day to day basis.

Patience is required and we need to give Cooper that.

Rome wasn’t built on a day but he has the right infrastructure with Seagrave to build a legacy.

This might be controversial but I disagree with a lot of this in regard to the time required to build. I actually think in the recent era, the longer managers and sometimes players are at clubs the less effective they become.

Now there's many moving parts that may contribute to that but I think the environment in which to build a club over time seldom exists anymore and instead clubs need to be very proactive to prevent stagnation.

Football financing has become a huge issue that rightly or wrongly is having an impact on clubs performance and whilst hideous amounts of money are wasted by clubs repeatedly, it's the flexibility and freedom in which to make changes to squads that is critical.

Once you're in the grip of the struggle it can be very very difficult to get out of it.

I do agree wholeheartedly that transfer fees aren't the be all and end all on putting together a successful squad, the art is in the craft at unearthing the right mix of players that may cost or may not but the PL clubs are becoming lazy in their methods IMO and the reputation precedes them when it comes to coming up with the reddies.

I was going to the same post, but you’ve nailed it far more eloquently than I would.

The Key to success in any club starts with the Manager. That's why I've said many times on here spend the money on the right Manager and give yourself a real chance of success.

The right Manager can find and sign the right players to do a job. Mahrez and Vardy Kante just 3 players we know so well who didn't cost the Earth and proved key to our success with others.

They can inspire players to achive more, Lead players by making them feel 10 ft tall and invincible.  Create the right working environment and ambiance around the Club.

Keeping pressure off the players so their only concern is winning the next game. This is important in the modern game as there are so many distractions out there.

I'd put Rashford in that catagory, Who felt rightly or wrongly he wasn't getting the support or love he needed at Utd. That's how small the margins can be between success and failure.

I bet Southgate is regretting not bringing Rashford or Grealish to the Euros now, looking at how poor the left side of his team have performed. (  I don't think he's any good as a Manager. )

Management is a lonely place, The Book stops with you,  But you have to follow your own beliefs knowing your never going to get everything right, Nobody does.

I wish Cooper every success and I hope he delivers for us. What I do know is he will give it his very best efforts after his experience with Forest.

He's an experienced Coach with great credentials, What's unkown is his ability to get the very best from the squad we have. He has his Forest experience to lean on.

I also feel the Club will give him every support possible within the financial constraints placed on them.

I'm quitely confident he has the know how to keep us in the Premiership for another season while we get the Club back on track.
