Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 2 October 2024 Popular Post Posted 2 October 2024 (edited) Sad watching this. This was our manager this time last season, and we've gone backwards. We were playing the exact same system but ditched it for whatever Cooper's system is instead. It's interesting that Cooper makes the same mistake that Poch did - not enough support for the build up player (Winks) when we try to get out. Edited 2 October 2024 by StriderHiryu 12

I’ve seen nothing like that since he arrived, no plan, no clue. I didn’t want him but I warmed to him once it was announced and got behind him, many others on here were completely right to be worried about him being the replacement. In hindsight Enzo atleast had a direction, now we don’t even have that. I do want Steve Cooper to be successful here, but it just feels week after week like we are delaying the inevitable. I’m just not sure who we could get in right now. I don’t really believe Enzo anyway when he said he would rather stay at LCFC as a priority when Chelsea were clearly monitoring him, he was visibly angry at the fact we didn’t properly disclose the finances to him (not sure I believe that either) but he would have known coming into the summer that the budget was massively limited with a potential deduction, so the moment Chelsea went in for him officially he was gone regardless of what we did imo. We just needs to decide sooner rather than later what the best path forward is, I’d say it seems pretty unanimous now that most fans have very little faith in what Cooper is offering so far. Sad to talk about replacements so soon, but the football we’ve put together so far has been pretty awful for the majority of each game. This isn’t sustainable, so far we’ve been lucky that atleast 6 teams are just as poor as we are. Just listened to the Under the Cosh pod with Albrighton and he talked about McLeish coming in at Villa and that it was never going to work as the fans were against him from the start. Seems there are some parallels here. Nice bloke and all but sometimes things aren't a good fit. 2

I used to work with the guy - he used to sit right behind me. He left to join a new YouTube startup, which I thought was risky. I'm still at the same company. FML. 1 7

According to some You Tube calcualtors I have seen, he is making upwards of £150K a year from it.

What stats are you looking at that back up your claim that we defended badly under Enzo? Post them, should be easy enough to find on Opta or wherever. WhoScored have us ranked number 1 for defensive actions last season based on an aggregate scores across shots conceded, tackles, interceptions, fouls and offsides. https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/7/Seasons/9622/Stages/22080/TeamStatistics/England-Championship-2023-2024 No i didnt 🙄 Are you a chick?

Well I can't comment on what he's earning but he did JUST sign a deal with the Premier League officially to do breakdowns on tactics so fair play to him! From his content I've watched recently, he really isn't fancying us this year. Pretty sure when he ranked all windows, he had us right at the bottom 2

We had so many Forest fans saying the same thing to us that our fans said about Pearson at clubs like Bristol City, but he’s really not giving me any signs of a foundation being built, don’t get me wrong we are 6 games in nobody is expecting a legacy, but we don’t seem to even have an identity.

The season we went down he was pretty low on us also, I think he had us at 14th, which was lower than most others. He just wasn't low enough To be fair, a lot of that will to be do with the PSR stuff at the start of the season, though I would be surprised if he changed his opinion of us after the start we've made.

Except virtually 0% of the issues with Cooper are to do with the Forest link - it's to do with his lack of system, inability to properly coach the players, weird lineups and awful subs/in-game management. 17 5

The 3-2-4-1 is by far the most effective in-possession shape in football currently. Why on earth you would come in and deviate a squad away from that is beyond me. Didn't even have to coach into them - they all already knew how to play it. Edited 2 October 2024 by pmcla26 4 1

That only women make decisions based on statistics and evidence? That it's more Alpha male to just believe and hope? Your brain farts here are just bizarre. Just admit that you would sell your family to lick Andrew Tate's chocolate starfish and move on so the adults can speak. 8

Because it's not what he wants, all his guff about posession and atractive football, or being inspired by x, y, z spanish coach is, from what I can tell so far, a tall tale. I wrote a long post this morning about my biggest gripe with his is the fact he's sold himself as something he's quite clearly not (which for some reason vanished or didn't post), I fell for it and the board probably fell for it as well. Perhaps I'm too trusting in what people say. That's not to say his way can't keep us up, it can. But whilst trying to paint himself as some expansive forward thinking coach, he's so far just proved to be your usual bog standard limited british coach. Trading standards should probably have a word about false advertising. 11

Trading standards should probably have a word about false advertising. I'm convinced he got the job because he reassured the board that he'd pick up where Maresca left off and the board thought, "Great! We thought we were going to have to fork out for Corberan but now we don't have to." Then Cooper started work and it became apparent that he had no intention of playing Maresca's way despite having a squad that was ready-made for it. Will Cooper revert to a style that more closely resembles last season's (and brings Fatawu and Ricardo back into the fold)? It seems unlikely. So his only hope is that he somehow manages to get the players to play his way. And if there are no clear signs of this happening soon, that will probably be it for him.
