Simple really. They didn't score though did they?

If probability stats are so reliable why are bookies still booming businesses.

Jeepers.

21/22 season when we finished 8th. We should’ve finished A LOT lower, there were so many warning signs. What happened the season after all the warning signs?

Went down with the best squad a relegated team has ever had.

If we stuck to what has happened SC would be sacked, the only reason he is in a job is the hope that he improves…. Which is based upon a projection of what the future looks like.

The subjective based predictions are made with our eyes and feelings combined with experience of football and history.

The most objective metrics are the statistics behind the scores… we’re discussing them because they are literally the most reliable predictor available to us to predict the future.

I like Wout Faes !!! He is passionate & top drawer when he is focussed..  If he feels he needs to scream at the bench then I'm with him 100%

Bookies win by assessing probability and building in a margin.  They use statistical data to do that.

And they consistently prevail over time...

Someone on here, who I won’t name drop, messaged me about some relevant info.

They were at the NFL at the weekend in London and ended up in a bar outside the stadium with someone who’s played every league game so far this season, again I won’t name drop.

He was a bit drunk nothing major, really really lovely guy, asked him about cooper said all the things many of us have said on the forum and he tried his best not to say anything, kept giving me a "look" and then eventually he said "all the players think we understand football more than him, he's a nice guy but none of us respect him as a manager"

Asked him about ricardo and he said "no idea how he’s not playing, he's still one of the best players at the club"

Also off topic I asked about Rudkin and he said "scapegoat, the players love him" though I suspect they would given he just gives them big money etc.

He was extremely confident we would stay up, said the team are far better than cooper is having us play, he doesn't think cooper will last long, indicated all the players don't think he's very good.

Dont shoot the messenger.

Some of this explains the body language of the players, arguing amongst themselves and shouting at the bench.

It would also add up with the info about Winks and Vardy challenging the manager. Of course he can’t drop Vardy else he would lose more fans but Winks? Yeah he could get away with that now as 75% of Winks’ game leans towards a side that have more possession.

Was it Riccardo?

This is not true though, is it? We're in 15th place, with a significantly better goal difference than most of the teams below us. The results he has delivered so far have kept us out of the relegation zone, which is our sole objective for this season. If you offered the board a 15th place finish right now, they would snatch your hand off. Obviously if our results decline significantly and we get sucked into the bottom three, it will be a different story. But as long as we stay ahead of the teams below us, Cooper is going nowhere.

You have to look at who we've played Vs expected results over the course of the season. Having played 7 games and sitting 15th is only good if that's the expected points per game for the teams played. We've got the likes of Liverpool and Man City to come home and away and a single point from those will be more than expected. To benchmark success the position in the league isn't a particularly useful indicator this early in the season.

Wait... what?

Bookies win by offering short odds on heavily backed probabilities and long odds on lesser backed probabilities. This is the chief factor in offering odds.

Statistics only come into play at the very outset when deciding to set initial odds, though also they will take into account public perceptions as this will more likely affect betting habits.

Bookies by no means have some secret database that predicts the most likely outcome, and even if they did, they'd likely make less money since there's lies, damned lies and statistics.

This is spot on! Take Wolves for example, their fixtures have been brutal and their next two are Brighton and Man City I believe. It won't be a fair barometer until everyone's played everyone really.

Having said that, just end the season now please whilst we are where we are :)

I agree it isn't. But xG and xGA stats aren't very useful indicators either. The board is not going to sack Cooper based on the results so far and they're not going to sack him based on underlying stats. The only scenario in which he'd get the boot now is if there is significant player unrest and the board is sufficiently concerned about that to take action, but this doesn't seem a high probability outcome at the moment.

Not very professional - but after a few beers it's bound to come out.
