The New and Upcoming Games Thread

Thankfully im away for work so the rather shambolic launches of STALKER and the new Flight Sim should hopefully have eased when I get a chance to play them.

Crimson Desert has more mood changes than <insert random sexism> but currently looking like not a multilayer game but a single player grand fantasy. Looks most impressive.

Unsurprisingly there is not a great deal happening this month but I will definitely be playing Path of Exile 2's early access which starts on Friday. Marvel Rivals is a free Overwatch knockoff out the same day on PC and consoles, which I can't say I'm particularly excited for after having tried the beta but your mileage may vary. Then on the 9th there's an Indiana Jones game for PC and Xbox (coming to PS in Spring next year apparently) and that, as far as I can tell, is about it. January looks even more quiet so let's get that out of the way too while we're at it - there's a new Dynasty Warriors on the 17th for PC and consoles if you like that sort of thing and a Sniper Elite spin-off for the same platforms on the 30th.

Was tempted to make a PoE2 thread but assumed be the only one playing the thing. Probably the most excited for a release I've been in many years. PoE is by far the best ARPG going yet somehow isn't that well known (it is, but not mainstream). Hopefully they can have a good launch as there'll be lots of hype on Friday for this and be a shame for it to fall flat. 

 

No doubt you've seen it, but the deepdive they did in the game last week was brilliant in showing how they're trying to make the end game stuff varied and worthwhile to stick with.

Yeah I haven't played PoE but I remember seeing some footage of 2 last year not long after Diablo 4 had come out and it piqued my interest so I signed up for some waiting list - got in one of the private betas earlier this year and was absolutely blown away by it, been waiting impatiently ever since and easily my most anticipated release of the year. Had an email this morning inviting me to another test from tonight until Friday which was like reliving the Cooper sacking announcement all over again.

Been some great previews regarding the upcoming Indiana Jones game, and Avowed a little further down the line.

 

Sounds like Indiana Jones has some creative gameplay. I think people were expecting a first person Uncharted, which it apparently isn't.

 

Many of the Devs apparently worked on the Chronicles of Riddick game back on the original Xbox, which may point somewhat to its gammeplay direction. I never played Wolfenstein which they also released, and this game apparently doesn't have you shooting all that much.

Given it a bash? Servers were, predictably, shambolic yesterday so spent today on it. It's so good.

Yeah same, just about to enter the last area of the first act. Went Monk and though it's a lot of fun I am tempted to start over as either Witch or Sorceress which I think are slightly less hard work

Went for sorceress myself. Got a minion staff to get some boys to act as the tank as she's made of glass. 

 

Absolutely locked in now though. Love how you actually need to use mobility and dodge else you get nailed. Such a minor thing but completely changes to experience from just out clicking the baddies.

CDPR always go waaaaaaay too early with their reveal trailers. I reckon this is 5 years off at least.
