This is just before the cross went in. I actually dont agree that this is Mavadidi's fault. There are 6 players defending and i think the winger has every right to be waiting for the counter.

I always like seeing our wingers being doubled up on. Here Riccy and Aribo give the their 2 wide players all the space they need. Neither can be arsed to make it remotely difficult to get the cross in (Aribo even turns his back!). Nelson, Okoli and Skipp decide the defend 2 players leaving Luke having to make a decision.  If there is one player you dont want to make a decision its Luke.

Then when the cross comes in, Luke reads it poorly, worrying about the players more than dealing with the ball. And Begovic, with all his experience, stays rooted to his line. A few steps forward and the keeper would make it much more difficult for Wilmot. Begovic it awful here - if you watch the replay its like he's about a minute late to everything.

We may have well just scored an own goal.

On Mavididi fair enough expecting the counter but he's old enough to see and recognise the danger here and that Thomas is going to have a decision to make about who he goes with if it comes that far

Definitely not enough effort to close down the cross, but late in the game winning 2-1, Mavididi is not waiting to counter, he's either lazy or has no football intelligence.

because neither of them has a clue. Both been dreadful all season, probably the worst centre back partnership we have ever had

But it's the partnership everyone was clambering for - because Vesty and Faes are hated.

Unpopular but I would drop both and replace with Vestergaard and Faes for the rest of the season, despite one injured and one on loan!

These pair will take us down, alongside a terrible excuse for a LB and a crocked/finished Ricardo.

Think the issue is they are fairly young in CB terms. We need on alongside a more experienced defender.

I'm not sure how having an experienced head next to you will help with lack of pace, decision making, heading a ball in the right direction and all the other basics these pair can't get right week in week out.

Ricardo is 20 yards away from them the whole game and he's as experienced as you can get.

To be fair to everyone who was hoping for this partnership. 1, Faes and Vestegaard, experienced players have been prone to mistakes for 3 years now; 2, Okoli, a £15m ITALY INTERNATIONAL signed for the PL, no one thought he’d be this bad; 3, Riccy’s fall has been monumental; 4, Nelson mixed in with all of that hasn’t got one leader at the back to learn/guide him.

My next hope is Souttar and Lascelles are both world beaters and manage more than half a game between them for the next 13!

Same, this would be my preferred partnership!

What playing evidence are you basing that opinion on?

How can you have a ‘preferred partnership’ of two players that have both;

1.) not played together

2.) hardly played over the last 2 years

It’s a nonsensical statement.

It's my opinion mate. First of all it can't be any worse than the two clowns playing at the moment conceding 2 goals every single match. We can't just rinse and repeat the same and expect a different result, that's the definition of insanity.

Leicester definitely need at least one experienced centre back playing every week. With the full backs conceding so many crosses I’m tempted to try Jakub again simply because he tries to gather more of them. With his confidence being low Boro away might not be the best time.

You can have an opinion - but I’ve asked you to quantify it because of your chosen wording.

There’s a distinct difference between saying “I’d like to see how Souttar and Lascelles perform together, if/when fit” than stating them as a “preferred partnership.”

I'd like to see how Souttar and Lascelles perform together if/when fit as they can't be any worse than the two current clowns at centre back.

Is that better?

Has there been any update on if/when we might see Souttar this season?

Much better.

I assume the whole point of you voicing an opinion is to gain an idea of agreement / acceptance amongst others - so how can anyone view any worth in an opinion that states a “preferred option” based on absolutely no evidence?

It just shows someone that shoots in the wind.

No offence but this is a football forum where people can post what they like within reason, not a courtroom - also, there isn't a followed structure of how to post, if that was the case 80% of the posts wouldn't follow this.

This isn't evidence based either, just look at the King Power out thread as a good example, if someone posts a negative opinion on the ownership are you going to round on them asking for evidence of this?

You've got 11K posts, you should know this by now!

So I’m looking for a better standard of debate?

If I see a claim that is wild, I am minded to call it out - such as the recently offered “try Skipp at left back” opinion.

If you’re going to make a contribution to a public forum; at least put some thought into it!

Tbf, I’ve never experienced a big shop from Waitrose, nor driving a Rolls Royce. I have, however, experienced Asda’s finest and driving a Dacia. Having not experienced the other two, separately or in tandem, I can still

surmise they might be better than the other options I do have experience with.

In a hypothetical where someone asked me “which of the two combinations would you PREFER” I might plump for Waitrose/Rolls Royce partnership. Even though I have no experience of them. I understand the basis of your point but it’s pretty harsh to jump on a guy for semantics. If you asked him “so what partnership would you PREFER to see next game” it isn’t wildly unreasonable for him to state Souttar/Lascelles. Even though he’s never seen it. Nor, then, is it a wild leap to express this wish using the words “my preferred partnership”. I get your point but it’s hardly like he’s stated “objectively this partnership is the best”. I think you’ve jumped on him a bit too eagerly and a little too much for the situation. Anyone reading his comment knew what he meant. Well, I did anyway.

I was keeping an eye on Okoli in the Stoke match. He was rarely in a position to even challenge for a header, let alone win one. He’d go wandering, wrestle a bit with a player in a non danger area and leave the clearing to others. Combine that with Kristiansen ducking out of every aerial challenge too and it’s no wonder we’re getting overloaded. Ideally Nelson should be shouting and organising more, because he’s the only one ever in the right position. But that’s very difficult with inexperience.

Particularly, I was concerned that Okoli was hiding against Stoke. Didn’t want the ball, didn’t want to be involved in key moments of defending in case he made a mistake. His confidence must be through the floor. Regardless, he’s got to stand up and get on with it because Lascelles is likely going to be a crock.

All this waffle.

Your example doesn’t carry weight because you’re quoting brands that you will have prior awareness of - you have additional knowledge to make an informed choice on a preference and could state detailed reasoning for that choice without direct experience.

Now you could, in theory, do that with the Souttar / Lascelles claim; “I’ve watched them play for Newcastle / Stoke respectively and think they’re styles of defending and skill sets would be well suited as a partnership.”

But the reality is, there was no evidence from the OP for the stated preference other than; they’re not the players currently playing there - which brings us to a Schrödinger’s cat style of desired team selection when a team or player is not performing - see the Thomas / Kristensen (or Skipp 😏) at left back debate and the “should Wink’s play?” for further examples of this.

Now that sort of debate is quite empty; it offers little value within the context of a public forum; so why not question it?

I feel like I'm going to go into custody and get a full questioning to which I'll reply ''no comment''

Is there any hope either of these 2 get match fit? We have to stop conceding silly goals. Even Oxford can go to Boro and grind out a 0-0, I know already 100% that we can not do that. Which is a problem. We are unlikely to be able to go there and outplay them
