Was hired by Top on the suggestion of Enzo

has a seriously big future in the Game

RVN sidelined him a little, people scoffing on here won’t be scoffing if Cardiff are swapping places with us next year, this fella was well liked by the players after he challenged a few big heads to up their game, I for one wish him well and think we have dropped a clanger here by not sacking RVN and giving this guy 6-8 games to show his stuff, Cardiff’s owner seems to have been well informed here, I really feel the scapegoating of hard working professionals only serves to protect Rudkin and Top

So Top handpicked a manager, and then asked a former manager to pick our new assistant because the manager he picked had fallen out with everyone else lol

**** me, we were doomed from the start.

I said when we got him it was a big coup. Find the statement weird and brief!

How did that go did the players up it? I ask because can’t say I noticed

I presume its based on the leaked article where his sessions were criticised by the players and he came out and apologised to them after.

Quote

The former Man City coach reportedly accused some individuals of not following his instructions, feeling they weren’t made clear.

To ensure the rift wasn’t made any bigger, Barry-Murphy apologised to the players the next day and continued preparation for the game.

No idea who leaked it (presume it couldn't have been Jannik as he was also slated in the article). Maybe Winks.

I think a lot of this is made up, and not sure what evidence there is that Ruud sidelined him.

BBM who’s previous management history comes in the form of Rochdale.

We’re being way too generous on here about his credentials.

If he got the job and did a horrid job, I’m confident everyone would bemoan that we didn’t go for anybody with experience etc.

He likely wouldn’t have been kept on when/if a new manager gets announced on the 1st July.

Well we will surely find out if our youngsters are as highly rated as we think because surely he will be trying to get one of them on loan. I'd say Braybrooke probably most likely.

Equally knowing this place it will explode if / when Cardiff do well.

I think he will do well myself, he’s more experienced from Rochdale days and has had access to all the tools Man C could provide him & probably still tapped in.
Its obviously easier to go to Cardiff than pick up the main job here despite both clubs wanting immediate returns, he’ll have the luxury of being under the radar and afforded time to create a style with an expected young team made up of academy players and loans with the odd old head.

I can see this as a 1 step back to take 2 steps forward type move for him, so fair play to him.

When though?

At the end of the PL season, when the club seemingly can't afford to sack RVN?

Or for this coming season, giving BBM the preseason and window and then potentially having to start again with someone else mid-season, repeating the same mistakes again?

From the BBC

Rochdale fan here. It says noted for his style of play! Yes , it was boring and started the rot to relegation ! He might be a good coach but he certainly wasn’t a good manager at Rochdale. I wish you the best of luck.

“I would say I love having possession of the ball, but we also want to be as aggressive as possible and create an excitement for the supporters so that they’re genuinely looking forward to coming to the stadium every game day

15 minutes of Cardiff vs Chelsea and can already see he's a better coach than Cifuentes.

He's absolutely dominating Chelsea.

Regardless of whatever the result will be tonight, you can see his ideas coming to fruition on the pitch.

Come on.
I’m not Cifuentes biggest fan but you can’t judge another manager on 15 mins.

Its half time now, sky sports commentators even said they're astounded that Cardiff are so comfortable on the ball, moving it nicely, etc.

If Cifuentes was managing Cardiff, they'd be around 3-0 down in the first half.

Ok.
Still the same sort of thing.

It’s one half of football.
You can’t judge a manager being better or worse than Cifuentes on that.

You're not understanding the point.

The point is within that timeframe, you can already see how Murphy sets his team up, how he wants them to play, their passing sequences, triangles, defensive shape etc.

All those aspects being coached are better than whatever Marti has served up during his entire tenure here.

Chelsea will probably end up bringing in the big guns in the 2nd half, so the result itself won't be relevant. The performance is what matters.

I get what you’re saying but you are still basing it on one half of football.
I’m not all that convinced with Cifuentes but it’s one decent half.
I wouldn’t have been against Murphy getting the job in the summer.

Ok here is another way to spin it have you seen much until recent games in 38 odd examples of half’s played

No idea what you mean so I’ll just say yes.

Quite simple they have played, 19 games and 38 halves of football.

until the games recently and going a few goals up, have you seen the manager stamp his identity on the performances in any half

You can’t disregard recent games just because we’re on a decent run and it doesn’t fit your narrative.
Cifuentes is gradually doing what he should have done at the start of season. Getting rid of the egos and getting the youngsters involved in the first team squad.
Yes it’s taken him to long to do it but I’m hopeful but not fully convinced by him.
We’ve looked decent in first half’s and then tailed off second half in majority of games.
I would say I haven’t seen Cifuentes stamp his authority on the squad but I wouldn’t replace him with someone based on a good first half against premiership opposition.

Its the entire performance, not just the first half.

If you're unable to analyse a football coach's impact on his team's identity after watching a match, then maybe some tactical education would be helpful.

Theres not a single match that Cifuentes has coached better than what I've seen from Brian Barry Murphy, lets put it that way.

You just said it it’s one half, it’s taken 16 odd games to see one decent half and even then the second halves have been complete capitulations.
Also for added context it’s against a Chelsea team and there second team is worth more than most prem first teams as opposed to the dogshit we have been playing.

In 1 game which Murphy will lose.
I don’t base my judgement on a manager after watching 1 game.
Yes there are flaws with Cifuentes but imo he’s gradually getting it right. It’s took him far too long but we look like we’re getting there.
