That was a quality arguement, missed the one with Birch, would imagine that would have been even funnier!

Radio Leicester has been a joke this season!! The presenter tonight a certain Mr Barber said" I wish I could understand what was going wrong with Leicester it is not as if you could say name 4 players who you could drop and replace and pinpoint them as the problem" He then in the same scentence went on to name 4 playersl including Douglas,De Vries,Sila, etc that he qouted as the fans most nominated for under performing??

Radio Leicester should be an un-biased station tht presents balnced points of view but they might as well be on the payroll of the club for the same old cr@P that they roll out each week!!

PS The two David's who called up the different stations were not the same person.

The first David who called up Radio Leicester to complain about communication was myself!! I did not call Century.

As for the facts that I put to Mr Barber I think you will find if you listen again via the BBC website that I was factually correct!!

Fact 1

No one from Leicester City (Marketing,Manager,Chairman,Public Relations) has appeared on Radio Leicester's Monday night phone in "in person" this season Factually Correct!!!

Fact 2

No one from Leicester City (same people listed as above) have appeared live and have accepted calls from us fans - Factually Correct

Fact 3

Mr Levein has only made 1 appearance (in person to take public calls) on the phone in over a year and a half! - Factually Correct

The presenter told me I was talking rubbish!! Because people from Leicester City appear on the phone in each week he said "We've had this person we had Rob Kelly, people come on every week!!"

If Mr Barber had taken the time to listen to my question I was talking about representatives from the club taking an hour to visit the studio in person to take questions from the city fans. Of which I refer to my previous point this season there have been zero, none didly squat!!!!

So Mr Barber - you are factually incorrect!!!

As for my point, Now more than ever with attendances falling, and the clubs current predicament just 5 points above the drop zone we need communication from the club.

It is all very well to say that the club is having fans forums but do you really think that the fans who have stayed away in there droves this season are going to spend more time and money to travel to the club to make there points of view????

The supporters are the clubs customers like it or not!! So when so many customers are unhappy with the product the club needs to keep all lines of communication open in order to attempt to bring some of the fans\customers back to the Walkers!!

How can Mr Barber claim that the clubs communication this season has been excellent when not a single sole from the club has bothered to turn up in the studio and talk to the fans!!!

All we hear this season on the Monday night phone in are pre-recorded interviews, or live interviews with the presenters. Not a single opportunity for the fan listening to speak to a member of the club!!

I hope this clarifies my point!!

As for local radio in this region well it is at it's worst for years. I respect the Birch on Century 106 for his humour and true character but do you really think that someone who is employed by the club should be on a phone in show? Birch is unable to give any of honest answers with regards to what he really thinks is going wrong at Leicester as this could affect his job there. The last time I heard any kind of an honnest opinion regarding LCFC was from the respected former century presenter Darren Fletcher who has quite rightly been promoted to the top BBC Radio commentators ranks.

PS I repeat I did not make any call to Century so I cannot comment on that callers comments.

but do you really think that someone who is employed by the club should be on a phone in show?

Haven't you just spent the last few paragraphs saying just the opposite?

I'm fortunate not to live within the transmission area of Radio Leicester and I'm glad. From what I hear, there are too many people ringing in who know how to run the club better despite the fact that they wouldn't recognise half the players if they saw them in the street wearing their kit.

By the time I've listened to the commentary (away matches) I can't stand the thought of listening to any more.

And too often I find I can barely equate any of the Radio version to what the fans describe when they return.

Thankfully, there's every chance I'll get to away games after Christmas but there are elderly fans and people who are ill who should be able to visualise the game from what is said by the commentators. I never can.

My main complaint - apart from reactive inaccuracies which are probably hard to avoid from what might be an indifferent vantagepoint - is how the commentators get drawn into debate about some meaningless occurence while ignoring play and suddenly announcing that someone's hit the post.

Difficult job though, make no mistake, and one that requires proper homework and familiarity with the players faces.

Katy and me were on one phone in this season and Tim Davies was there with us so I can say that fact one is not a very good fact at all.

was gonna say that a few people were in the studio with Davies - you just fell flat on your arse mate

I was also on the phone in with Anish the week after Cobbo and Katy and was called a "club spokesman" by Andy from Long Eaton. So surely that makes me a club representative too? :D

So I gather you haven't bothered attending any of the club's Open meetings?

There are means of contacting the club if you are unhappy with things. I'm all for the club communicating with the fans, but it's a two way thing. You have to do your bit as well.

i definately think Levein should be made to come on the phone in. He may get some support back too. All our past managers used to be on. I even remember Adams ringing up and argueing with some caller.

Agreed and if fans don't, they only have themselves to blame. ;)

Yeah thats one thing you cannot blame Adams for, At least he had the decency to answer and defend himself on the phone in, may not have been what they wanted to here (whether he made excuses or not) but at least he phoned up and had his say.

Levein won't even come into the studio (They keep saying he will come on but come on Levein lets arrange dates) if you don't wanna do a full hour just phone up answer your critics!

You can't force a manager to appear on a phone in, can you? I was also accused of being a club/BBC spokesman when I was on a few weeks ago. My crime? being a bit optimistic/positive!

If you want to read a good interview with CL get the next FOX fanzine.

Anyone can read/listen to interviews, If we wanted interviews we would be happy, Levein is more than happy to do interviews he comes out straight away after matches...The idea of the Phone-In is to put your points across and ask questions to whoevers in the studio - Manager, Players, Club Spokespeople, Other fans. Micky phoned up and answered his critics, why is it taking Levein to do the same? Why is it taking Levein/BBC Leicester/The club to arrange a date?

Posted

Maybe the club don't want Levein to go on the phone in considering how last time he perhaps too honest for them? Or perhaps because most people who phone up the moan in seem to either have never been to a match in their lives or say things like 'I think we should be signing this million pound player' might make the club representatives feel less inclined to hurry up and go on there. There are plenty of possible reasons for why Levein hasn't been on the phone in so far this season, and I do think they'll probably get him to come on in January.

David, if you're desperate to ask a question then I've found that Tim Davies is always happy to oblige. E-Mail him on [email protected] and he'll either email back an answer to send you his phone number so that you can have a nice long chat with him (I've spoken to him for about an hour before).

Hi All,

Glad that last night sparked off a bit of conversation between you all !!! Some interesting points that I take onboard.

The reason that I defended the club as regards to communication, was that they now have Peter Jones, a fan liason officer (who had been on the forum this season), Tim Davies a Chief Executive who is very approachable (and has been on the forum this season answering questions) and a coaching staff who provide numerous interviews. (Rob Kelly has been live on the forum this season, as well as about 6 of the players.) Oh, and they also hold loads of Fans meetings, and the Foxes Trust have a place on the board !!!! All of this is FACTUALLY CORRECT !!! ;)

As for Craig, I have approached the club, like I said I would, to ask Craig on the forum to take your questions. I am pretty certain he will agree to this, and as soon as we have a date in the new year you will know about it.

All I would say is, that when Tim Davies was on, he got calls about replica kit lettering, and other mundane matters.

And agreed, that photo is terrible !!!

AND NOW THE LEICESTER CIDDEEE SIDE............

Yes myself and Cobbo were there when this happened and can also confirm this is factually correct. When Tims on the show, at least have the brains to ask him some decent questions, he will answer them as he did when we asked him loads off air.

They've replaced him with that even more irritating PGH/Can-Can hybrid. I'd rather listen to Henry than that...
