I can't see that happening. Horner would be off the grid for ages if that happens as it would take so long to setup a whole new team with the amount of people teams employ nowadays. Plus the F1 teams would have to agree with it and I am sure Wolff and Brown in particular would love to tell him to do one. I think it is more likely that he'll end up leading a consortium to buy the Alpine or second RB teams and rebranding them.

Rumours are that horner is exploring potentially making his own team

I'm sure the other bosses will be very supportive of that endeavour.

One can dream but I think you’ll be right, think the only way it’s a complete new team is if Horner gets in bed with a new manufacturer the privateer days are over. I always feel like 24 slots is the sweet spot on the grid. Also reports he was sniffing around haas

Toyota are definitely more interested in Haas than they let on. I think they are fed up of WEC, Hypercar has been good overall but it hasn't really worked for them with the balance of performance method.  With Horner finally bringing Honda world titles after so many failed attempts, I wonder if perhaps there is a deal to be done with Toyota to takeover that team with him getting an ownership stake.

I think it’s either them or alpine, I know there were some Italian sources saying Ferrari a month or so ago and while that would be absolutely hilarious I can’t really see it. With the amount of power Horner had over the redbull project if he’s looking for a similar role in terms of that then he will need to have that stake this time. Whether that would be possible in bed with someone like Toyota I’m not entirely sure. Alpine would be good fun after his feud with Renault over the years, but they are giving up doing their own engines so will be interesting.

i think the one thing I am surprised about here is how quick he seems to be putting out the feelers, must still be quite somber in the Horner household

McLaren hadn't won a race in nearly 3 years when they won in Miami in 2024 and were immediately declared to have the fastest car. They've looked nothing like having the quickest car the last 3 races, Red Bull winning at a canter twice yet it's still all knives out for them (Norris in particular) for not taking an easy 1-2. McLaren will be grateful it's mostly "proper" race tracks for the remainder of the season.

Happy for Russell who's had nowhere near the plaudits he deserves this season.

I don’t really understand your point, they’re literally about to wrap up the constructors this weekend they’ve had a much superior advantage to the field this year, red bull have caught up over the past 3 races but if you’re trying to argue a team wrapping up the constructors with 7 rounds to go haven’t had a rocket ship you’re daft

Norris has quite rightly got flack because he’s been poor this year, he’s been at that team for 7 years, had it pretty much built around him and he’s been outclassed by Piastri this year despite him only having two seasons under his belt.

Agree with you on Russell think he’s proven he has the cutting edge this year

Gonna be a dull race from here on barring a safety car.

Yup, nobody will want to pit first so making it a one stop and even less action.
