Thinking about it, does anyone remember the FT rage when it looked like we might be sponsored by PTT (a moody Thai petrochemicals company) that was basically Bond-villain unethical?

Turns out they have close links to Oman and the UAE. Perhaps putting 2 and 2 together and making hummus, but those rumours would be unlikely to come out of nowhere. Petrochemicals, the Thai government, links to the Middle East and now talk of Amanda Staveley?

I don’t think you’re a million miles off mate. I can genuinely see this scenario happening.

Sell the club , or get rid of Rudkin / Whelan and restructure the board if he doesn’t do the latter he has to do the former.

Re: The Amanda Staveley suggestion.

It wouldn't be that much of a shock, even if it's just to attract additional investment. The family are in with the Thai royal family, which you would think places them in at least the potential for second hand contact and relations with several Middle Eastern governments such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE etc. Not to mention their links to China. All of this would suggest that the potential buyers would see the likely huge asking price for the club as pocket change.

Simply put, people with that amount of wealth and influence in a country like Thailand will have more fingers in more pies than a leper on a cookery course.

Haven't China broadly jacked in investing in football, especially since the property crisis? I'd be stunned if we wound up with Chinese ownership

Hire competent replacements?

to do what? We have no funds because PSR has screwed us from the decisions made 4 years ago.

I agree that the decisions makers that made those errors from 4 yrs ago should have been dealt with, but since then we've had a successful season, and now it's going wrong again, but there's no money to do anything about it

yep, mostly because the Chinese government are discouraging investment abroad because it reduces the amount of control they can exert over it.

They have, and I do think it's the least likely route for investment. Even the CSL is now dead, let alone foreign investment.

However, there are likely to be wheels within wheels in terms of connections.

'We're not investing in football, but I know somebody who is' and all that jazz.

I imagine KP will aim to sell to a gulf nation.

What is our footballing strategy? It’s non-existent.

There’s no money, because we’re paying shit players massive wages on massive contracts…….. we’ve literally hamstring ourselves.

Let's not forget King Power's interest in horse racing as well. A lot of Middle Eastern money going through that, especially with Sheikh Al-Maktoum and Godolphin Racing.

1 mistake last summer has led to a disaster that may harm us for yrs, Cooper, and the support of Cooper in our signings was the wrong decision, but was made in a cloud of Enzo leaving, managers turning us down, points deduction hanging over us and the call for transfers.

we have, but its easy in hindsight when a player underperforms to criticise, but when its a success it's different. I do think too many errors are made though which is why i agree a new DOF is badly needed, but it's not changing any outcome for the next couple of yrs unless we survive

The dream of us ever being a club consistently competing for trophies has died with King Power's short-sightedness.

I just want a sustainable club my daughter can grow up supporting now, with a majority shareholder who will start treating fans with respect, whatever division we're in.

That can still be Top.

He just has to sack the incompetent board around him.

like saying Kamala Harris can still become president, she just needs to get a better campaign team around her for 2028. maybe so, but it's not happening and there's too much baggage now for it to happen.
