As shite as us and West Brom are, the sides you'd expect to be down there are probably fairly wary that if something does click with either of us we'd be capable of pulling away

Certainly. But present form is a better indication than what might happen.

How about all the teams within 10 points of the bottom 3?

Norwich 5 wins from last 6

Charlton 2 wins and a draw from last 4

Blackburn 3 wins from last 4

Portsmouth 2 wins from last 4

WBA and Leicester a total of 4 points combined from their last 6 games each.

Yes a win would change things. But the most realistic target should be getting above WBA.

I think we’ll be safe. Rowett’s pragmatic, defensive approach will be the focus we’ve needed all season. Add in some promising loan players.

But more importantly, the utter arrogance of some of our squad will be the defining factor. They won’t want to go down and I think we’ll see quite a few of them really step it up. Winks will have a key part to play and I think Fatawu will show a level of consistency he’s not shown all season.

I want the drugs you're on.

We can't defend, we are mentally made of broken glass and we have players that just given up.

But today will be telling if Rowett has made a difference.

Blackburn looked the worst team in the league the other week and now they're safe (not necessarily in my view yet) because they've won a couple.

I didnt think I would need to point out to a league table expert that the same can happen to West brom and ourselves and then Portsmouths mighty 4 point gap diminishes in to nothing at all.

Blackburn brought in a good manager and turned things around immediately. You could also do the same.

Hence why I said wary "if"

The vast majority of teams in this division are pretty streaky with their form. Yes Blackburn and Portsmouth have had good runs lately, they've had them at other points in the season too and followed them up with bad form as well.

That said, next week's fixtures are pretty daunting and there's no denying we really need a result today. As opposition goes, you couldn't ask much better than a Stoke side in even worse form than ourselves. Come the close of play we could well be out of that bottom 3.

Totally agree, if Rowett’s tenure as manager starts with a defeat then I think we’re doomed.

Point out one comment that isn't true.

I enjoy the edge to our games. If you get relegated we might have to wait years before we play again.

Stoke have a massive injury list. Today is a bigger chance of a win than most seem to think.

If we don't start winning now we'll be cut adrift and confidence will be even lower. Next 4 games crucial for our survival. What a mess. Problem is players don't give a toss. They'll be off somewhere else.

Charlton are safe. 7 points ahead with 14 games to go. That's half a point a game.

Blackburn are safe. Northern Ireland boss O'Neil took over 2 games ago and they've won both. That's the difference a decent manager makes.

Portsmouth look safe. 4 points ahead and a game in hand. W2 D2 L2 in last 6.

5am on the Leicester forum

You’re condemning the team before we’ve seen the impact that Rowett can have.

The unrelenting hatefest on here is laughable at times. Loads of people moan that we didn’t get Rowett in earlier but then also moan that he’s not going to be able to save us. The slavish devotion to existential misery and utter pessimism is pretty impressive, I guess.

We might well go down but there’s 14 games left. Today isn’t last chance saloon. Loads of twists and turns to come.

I want Cov to not go up more than I want Leicester to stay up.

Torn between wanting Cov to lose and West Brom not to pick up any points today. Either scenario is shit. Obviously for us it's got to be a Cov win, but I can't bear the thought of them actually getting over the line.

God I hate what Top and Rudkin have done to us.

We need the new manager bounce, it starts today, not hating on anyone, we don’t need to go straight back into how we were before Rowett.
Actually not sure where you see the “hate” in my post. Very odd.
