Phillips had just played the ball at this stage. The Sheffield Wednesday player is low trying to block it.

It is not like he has gone in at knee height in a 50/50. He played the ball and his momentum has carried him through, against a player that is low the the ground.

Is this was one of our players, you wouldn’t be happy with it.

That still shows he's not even on the ground yet. So doesn't really back up that point?

I think it's a red but not as vicious as others had made out.

Yeah it seems to linger as well, it's not just flicked him

Hopefully West Brom go for Marti if they sack their manager, the description of him is hilarious. 'Proactive' football, 'doesn't stick to one rigid system', yeah ok then! lol

They made a colossal error by not appointing Rowett when the sacked Mason. Such a weird decision to choose a completely unproven manager over one with a track record of rescuing struggling Championship clubs. I suspect they'll end up looking back at that decision as the moment that relegated them.

West Brom didn't want Cifuentes when he tried so hard to go there before they decided to go for Mason.

Knowing our luck Marti keeps up WBA at our expense.:(

Unless hes had some kind of footballing mentality transplant, id be confident he wouldn't, the most clueless manager ever.

To me, it sounds similar to the Romero red card against Man U a couple of weeks ago. Full intent to go for the ball, late, excess force sees him off. Romero was also then lambasted in the media, a reputation which proceeds him.

Casually flicking through YouTube shorts last week, a clip of Ronaldo came up from the official Premier League account titled "Carnage! Cristiano Ronaldo clattering in.", from a time where out of frustration, CR7 would routinely kick at floored players, and in this aforementioned videos case, ran into a loose 50/50 ball, absolutely steaming in with rage and flung his leg in the general direction of the ball with absurd force... but don't worry this was all fun and games apparently. Just like the various videos from official football accounts from SkySports and the Premier League which show clips of times when Roy Keane would be sent off, jovial comments in the chat "our Roy", "legend",  then videos of him watching these clips laughing about the times he maimed fellow professionals and now it's all seen as relatable friendly characters in the media... Carragher hocking up greenies to gob at kids on the motorway.

I've randomly gone on abit of a rant here. Anyway yeah, see it often. Players earn reputations, like Choudhury did against Liverpool for daring to tackle Salah with vigor, yet Tyler Morton suffered no ill press for snapping someone's leg.

Felt Romero got it a little harsh the other week was my original point

To be honest, I’ve got no idea if Cifuentes is a good, bad or average coach.

When you’re working with slop, you are making the best of a bad situation.

I’m not sure if he spent 7 months working with his hands tied, as he wasn’t allowed to make changes, recruit players or add staff members he deemed necessary.

If Glover is signing the players, can you blame Cifuentes for Carranza, Ramsey or Vieites?

Tactically in reality he’s been left with a team of overpaid, under motivated players even before he arrived. Something that we are all Rowett manages to get a tune out of. The reality is Cifuentes couldn’t do any worse than what Cooper or Van Nistelrooy did, albeit with an even worse squad.

We spent no money in the summer to improve the squad really, bar whatever we have paid for loan deal.

We’ve then proceeded to lose Vardy, El Khannous, Hermansen, McAteer, Justin, Ndidi, Coady, Iversen, Ward (), Coulibally and Faes, without adequately replacing them. If anything, we’ve asked him to rely on youth products which come with a solid reputation but experience in one of the most competitive leagues in world football.

Could he have done things different tactically, the answer is “yes”. However the bloke isn’t turning water into wine and when your attacking option is Ayew or Daka, who have scored less than San Marino have (I’m guessing here) in the last year, then he’s on a hiding to nothing. It’s a bit like asking would you rather guide your dad into your mum, or be a Forest / Coventry Season Ticket holder for the next 25 years.

If you look at West Broms squad man for man, compared to ours, Blackburn, Oxford, Portsmouth, Norwich etc, are they that much worse than us? On paper we should be nowhere near where we are, however fooball isn’t played on paper.

When you look at people like Issac Price who’s having steady season, then Maja who’s potentially playing worse than Ayew at the moment, you only need to get a tune out of them and they’ll start to score goals.

Also, just some more interesting info for you.

I found this recently.

It doesn’t take account our wonderful points deduction, however if you consider how bad our 2nd half’s have been this season, this would be our league position is the game finished in the following minutes.

KO until 15 minutes : 21st

KO until 30 minutes : 16th

KO until 45 minutes : 19th

Half Time : 19th

KO until 60 minutes : 19th

KO until 75 minutes : 22nd

KO until 90 minutes : 22nd

Full time 22nd

Having just gone on a rant in the other topic about our squad for next season.

It now blows my mind that 22 of the 24 current championship clubs have a higher nett spend than the “mighty” Leicester City.

Did you also know that of all the clubs in the Championship during the past 5 years, we’ve had the lowest number of squad arrivals and departures?

We’ve spent a lot on guff, however clearly have overspent and then can’t get rid of people, or they’ve left on free transfers.

Is it that surprising though? We’ve had someone leave for at least 30 odd mill since the free fall began .

what actually baffled me is that Southampton are quite low despite some of the fees they’ve brought in lol what the **** did they spend 400 mill on? I was convinced they’d be top

If anything, I think that fact we’ve sold Fofana, Maddison, Barnes, Dewsbury-Hall, Castagne, Hermansen, McAteer, Justin, Ndidi and Cannon for a combined total for what you’d buy half the Championship bottom half for; potential highlights our incompetence even more! :D

The main issue is that we've breached PSR 2-3 times in order to what?

Preside over the worst ever PL relegation (in terms of underperformance), get relegated a 2nd time and now to have a squad that can only achieve bottom half Championship or a very possible relegation to League One, despite still having 10 of the top 20 paid players in the division and by far the biggest wage bill.

We always have tranche of players with expiring contracts too meaning they're not as committed as they should be. Given we lose them on a free and have to replace them AND pay their wages it's like the club (Rudkin's) operate with a mentality of intersectional shitness
